#1 is right. Netanyahu doesn’t want to meet or be seen with Obama. Works out great for both of them.

While we are certainly no fans of Obama, this time he is right. Bibi is running for office, and his campaign might be in trouble. It would be inappropriate for the President of the USA to be seen as campaigning for someone running for office in a foreign country. Bill Clinton campaigned aggressively for Peres, and that was quite disgusting.

Nothing good would have come out of a meeting with Obama. My guess is that Netanyahu is happy about not meeting the president.
