Despite an increase in security at 770 Eastern Parkway following the stabbing of a Yeshiva student in December, an emotionally disturbed beggar continues to loiter in 770 Eastern Parkway’s main Shul.
The man, who appears to be homeless, collects money from congregants in 770. Locals have reported that he is extremely aggressive, shouting at people and starting an occasional fight.
On Wednesday evening, he became increasingly violent, so the Police were called. He was removed from the Shul and taken away in an ambulance.
On Friday, however, he was back, verbally attacking congregants who were praying in the Shul.
This man, among various other homeless individuals, continues to have access to the shul at Chabad Lubavitch headquarters in Brooklyn, despite the fact that Yeshiva student Levi Rosenblatt was stabbed by a mentally disturbed man with a knife on December 8th, and police insured that security would be increased at the Shul which hundreds visit daily.
I was there motzei Shabbos when he police were interrogating him after he called them saying people spit at him and threw garbage cans at him. he said hes jewish and that hes a mentch and was yelling all kind of ridiculous things at the police who were just rolling their eyes. it was funny yet frightening at the same time.
I want to thank the police for protecting everyone espec during the convention. there were always at least 2 police cars with lights sitting outside our programs to protect us. it made us feel safe
thats what they all say. try antisemetic.
I was in 770 on Friday morning. This Bum starts his day early. By 730, he was harassing and agitating people. Most comments seem to be blaming the Police / Gaboim. But what about the people/ community taking a stand? There was four or five Minyonim at that time in 700 and NO one stud up to him. Worse more, this Bum started harassing and talking too two young boys who were attempting to Davin. I am sure that Not one of the participants in Shul at that time would want their kids taking with this Bun, but no one… Read more »
He also goes to the Kingston mikvah.
Private security can only work based on three conditions 1. Every breach is monitored. 2. It is funded 3. The security can recognize an uncommon or a non community member face. I am familiar with this issue with 770. 1. The rebbe never wanted a jew denied entry into the shul, regardless of his condition or look. So you have to screen the breachs in a balanced way. 2. It is a very expensive set up with an approx pay roll approx 10k a week. 3. The gabboyim have to be willing to implament this task. Last, there are other… Read more »

If we would give money to only the beggers approved by the beis dein the ones who are not wouldnt come around.
Having to buy our peace from these crazy ppl by giving them a quarter never was or will be tzedaka ( just an opinion).
There’s nobody in charge in 770 at all, anybody can walk in and do whatever he wants until someone gets annoyed enough and takes the law into his own hands, otherwise nobody knows and nobody cares, the only thing they care about is which hechsher is allowed into Kratz’s kitchen, this is the tragic fact, its a keg of gunpowder waiting to explode, nobody knows when what will happen, G-d protect us all.
Why let that maniac into the rebbes Shul in the first place, I was in 770 the other day and was almost attacked by him. He also started to curse out 770 and Lubavitch.
to time (#6):
This is not right at all. Most beggars are safe. So, why
should they suffer more, according to you, because of the
trouble-makers?
Wanna know something? There should be no moshka or anything like that at farbrengens, because ordinarily normal people have been known to beceome temporary monsters, WORSE than the beggar you are talking about! Wasn’t there violence amongst our chevrei over the Meshichist issue?
Straight jacket time.We don’t need trouble . who’s going to protect. Our children? This guy is way off…

What’s the point of police these days
Restraining, securing or some-such procedure with a problematic-dangerous person is not good for business. Returning him/her to the ‘street’s is more profitable for ‘The US. Criminal Justice System.’
WAKE UP SHEEPISH AMERICANS OR YOU’LL GET MUCH MORE OF THE SAME!
In Connecticut, about one year ago, a pedarist-butcher of a young boy was released after 25 years imprisonment. The father, publicly vowed to kill the murderer is he catches him. Yet S.M. Rubashkin received 27 years imprisonment for a first-time light offense.
Welcome to ‘Hefker America!’ ‘Medinat Chelm’ (Are we copying the Israeli Government? YES! We’re allies!).
Is he Jewish?
as with every incident or attack, after a few weeks everyone forgets about it. when will we learn??
Derocheo darchei Noam?
Its time to stop all beggars going in to 770. Its a private shul ,and those beggars who come in should get arrested
If I was there & that man approached me, it’d be his last day on earth & his first day in you know where!!!
The Gaboyim are at fault for not keeping him out people that see him have to point him out etc private security won’t help if those in charge won’t do their job
Security at all doors, including women. What are we thinking!
Would be great…
the police cannot be expected to vet every person as they enter 770.
Private security needs to be employed both at the entrance and to be inside.
