Chabad of Lantau, directed by Rabbi Mendy and Lifshy Ajzenszmidt, held their 4th annual Menorah lighting in Discovery Bay Plaza with over 500 in attendance.
Participants decorated doughnuts, made menorahs out of pasta and enjoyed rides among other activities. The parents and children then watched a bubble show.
Discovery Bay is an Expat community located 20 minutes from the Hong Kong International Airport.
Before the Menorah lighting, the crowd was treated to a music video prepared by the students of JUDA and Gan.
Dominique Vardi, whose office has been the host of Chabad’s Shabbat and Holiday activities, was honored with lighting the Menorah.
Other Chanukah activities include erecting a Menorah in the Hong Kong International Airport, in partnership with ELAL Airlines. This is the first Menorah in an airport in Asia. The menorah can be seen at the ELAL check in area.
The 40+ ELAL security staff were given menorahs to light and are looking forward to their annual Chanukah party and lighting on the last night of Chanukah.
Chabad of Lantau is a branch of Chabad of Hong Kong and was established by Rabbi Mordechai Avtzon, Head Shliach to China.
