The National Menorah, the world’s largest, was lit in a ceremony seen around the world Tuesday, December 16 at 4:00 pm, the first night of Chanukah.
Vice President Joe Biden attended the program marking the 35th Anniversary of the National Chanukah Menorah Lighting, held on the Ellipse near the White House.
The jumbo chanukiah stands on the Ellipse across from the White House. The event is scheduled to include holiday foods like latkes and sufganiot.
Entertainment was by popular recording artist Alex Clare, The Three Cantors and The U.S. Army Band, “Pershing’s Own.”
The lighting of the National Menorah is annually attended by thousands every year and seen by tens of millions across the nation and around the world via TV newscasts.
The event was broadcasted live on COLlive.com.
