In the wake of the recent unspeakable tragedy that took place in the Kehillas Yaakov shul in Har Nof, Israel, Chabad of Hawaii, led by Rabbi Itchel and Perl Krasnjansky, swung into action with a new women’s institute, talk show interview and children’s rally.
As the Rebbe always encouraged bringing more light to triumph over moral darkness, building more Torah institutions to vanquish our enemies’ desire to obliterate our houses of study and learning, following the murder of the 4 kedoshim, Chabad of Hawaii announced the opening of “The Schwartz Family Women’s Institute.”
Generously endowed by Chabad of Hawaii’s friend and supporter, Mrs. Margie Schwartz (and inspired by the memory of her own mother, Molly Greenberg, obm), the institute will undertake and carry out initiatives by and for Jewish women that are creative and dynamic and inspire Jewish women in their womanhood and to reach greater spiritual insight and fulfillment. “The Schwartz Family Women’s Institute” is geared to women of all levels of Jewish affiliation and would aim to reach all the denominations that are functioning in Hawaii.
The goal of the Institute is to create a grass roots Jewish women’s movement of learning and inspire greater love of Judaism in the environment of every participant.
As Margie Schwartz put it simply, “The Women’s Institute is a marvelous idea. I do feel very positive about funding it, because of what they are doing in Hawaii and how deeply they [the Krasnjanskys] believe in this cause.”
Planned activities and initiatives of the Schwartz Family Women’s Institute include organizing an island-wide Mega Challah Bake, a Women’s Bat Mitzvah Discovery Course, and creating new opportunities for individual and group learning for women.
“There can be no greater victory over our enemies than having more learning, more Torah activities, more spiritual growth than ever before,” said Perl Krasnjansky. “There can be no greater triumph than to strengthen what our enemies wish to snuff out: the light of our Torah, our heritage and our Divine mission.”
Additionally, upon receiving an email from Chabad of Hawaii about the necessary response to the massacre and calling on its readers to increase in various mitzvos in the face of the tragedy, local talk show host, Jay Fidell contacted Shlucha Mrs. Perl Krasnjansky and requested her appearance for an interview on Think Tech Global, which aired live Thursday afternoon (Nov. 20).

The interview features a passionate argument by the Shlucha, elaborating on the Rebbe’s insistence on the importance of security in Israel through strength – and how crucial it is to state openly and clearly that Israel belongs to the Jewish people because G-d says so in the Torah. The host responded warmly to Perl’s impassioned affirmation that changing the status quo requires changing attitudes and actions to reflect the Torah and the Rebbe’s perspective.
On Shabbos, there were many fervent and emotional discussions in Chabad House.
Sunday, Rosh Chodesh Kislev, as thousands of shluchim gathered in New York for the main banquet, 5,000 miles away the Daniel Levey Chabad Hebrew School (named in memory of Chabad of Hawaii’s first Hebrew School student, Daniel Levey, a’h, and generously endowed by his parents Dr. Norm Levey and Dr. Joyce Cassen Levey) held a Children’s Rally for Peace in Israel.
Following the Rebbe’s directives, quoting the famed words of Tehillim, “Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings You have established might, to counter Your enemies, to silence foe and avenger,” the children of DLCHS gave Tzedakah and recited the 12 pesukim with strength and vigor. To lighten the atmosphere a little and provide a little comic relief, following the rally, Kitah Daled of DLCHS presented an impomptu mock wedding, telling the tale of the week’s Parsha, Vayeitzei.
Very well done! Amazing
I am soo impressed.
Speaking so well and intelligently.
And so strong in relating Torah and the Rebbes views open and strongly.
Wow! Im really blown!
Great job, Pearl! Just what the Rebbe wants all to hear. The Rebbe sure is proud of you.
Absolutely the most incredible shluchim, they do everything for everyone, nothing for themselves completely selfless, and the shabbos meal is amazing… Howley
great job!!
Agree with #4 – this is something to share with anyone and everyone who needs to hear the truth spoken intelligently, clearly, and VERY powerfully. Pearl, you should be out speaking much, much more. Reminds me a lot of Brigette Gabriel. Thank you and keep up the AMAZING work!
Very powerful very smart Very Chabad!
She deserves a standing Ovation for this one!
The Rebbe sure is proud!
Wow, what an elegant shlucha!
Pearl you speak very well. One thing I once heard a Rabbi say, is, look at a map and see how much land the Arabs have, Egypt, Libya, Lebanon, Syria, etc etc, and this shows us, this is not about peace or land. They can develop and give the homeless plenty of land, but instead they are using the money given to them for terrorism, building tunnels (as recently discovered) Truth will prevail.
You mention the 4 kedoshim but what about the fifth? The young Druze policeman who literally Sacrificed his life to try and protect Jews?
