While Chabad Rabbis from around the world are attending the annual International Conference of Shluchim in Brooklyn, NY, their sons are taking part in their own Kinus as well.
Parallel to the adult convention which includes lectures and workshops, a kid-friendly version called Kinus Tzeirei Hashluchim is being held to inspire and entertain the young boys.
“It is a unique opportunity for the sons of Shluchim to draw the same energy and inspiration as their fathers do from each year’s Kinus,” says Rabbi Gedalia Shemtov, Director of the Shluchim Office which organizes and funds it together with Merkos.
The main program is for boys grades 3-8 and begins on Friday morning, November 21 / Cheshvan 28th, and concludes on Sunday evening November 23rd / 1 Kislev with accommodations included.
Thursday evening, counselors and staff members met with head staff Yitzi Ceitlin, Motti Harlig, Shmuli Slonim, Sroly Baron, Berel Bendet, Berel Namdar, Nissi Deitsch, Levi Harlig, Gedalya Hertz and Chaim Levi Cohen to prepare to give the youngsters an incredible three days packed with learning, fun and inspiration.
During the course of the kinus, the young Shluchim will be davening and learning together, attending farbrengens, visiting the Rebbe’s Ohel, taking a group photo in front of 770 Eastern Parkway and going on trips.
One highlight is Friday night Davening, when the entire camp of 1,000 boys enter the main shul at Lubavitch Headquarters – 770 Eastern Parkway and hold their own Kabbalos Shabbos davening at 6:45 pm, singing Lecha Dodi and other parts of davening to the tune of joyous and heartfelt Lubavitch niggunim.
“The singing and davening by the Shluchim’s children is a most inspiring and incredible sight,” says Rabbi Moshe Pinson, Director of the program along with Rabbi Benzion Shemtov. “Everyone from Crown Heights, and even Shluchim should stop by to see it for yourself.”
Similar to their fathers, the young Kinus will conclude with a Grand Banquet in Crown Heights bringing the entire weekend to a memorable point with singing, dancing and a Roll Call. There will be a surprise appearance, organizers say.
This year, the Shluchim Office will be offering ongoing updates and notifications about the Kinus on social media. Follow @KinusCamp on Twitter.
