Mendy Sacho, one of the dedicated Rabbis at Aliya Institute in Crown Heights, decided that this weekend’s “The Shabbos Project” was a must for Aliya.
Being right after the Yomim tovim, the other Rabbis were to preoccupied to take notice, and so Mendy took the project by the reins.
Sacho began promoting it to the members of Aliya, all of whom were excited by the idea of joining the world for one global Shabbos.
It started with a promotional video where Aliya members and staff said that they were part of the Shabbos project which was a big hit. To keep up with the momentum, he arranged Challah baking at Aliya on Thursday night. With the help of Rebetzin Feiglin it turned out to be a big hit.
“No one would have ever imagined that a bunch of young guys would get excited about baking Challah,” said Rabbi Moshe Feiglin, Aliya’s Director. “But thanks to Mendy they did!”
The highlight of project was Shabbos day. The kiddush that everyone waited for was done full scale. It gave a huge boost to keeping Shabbos, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
