Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin, former vice president of Agriprocessors and founder of the Jewish community in Postville, Iowa, is marking his 55th birthday today, the 28th of Tishrei.
Rubashkin is incarcerated in the Federal Correctional Institution in Otisville, NY, serving a 27-year prison sentence that shocked and horrified Jews and legal scholars throughout the world when it was handed down four years ago.
Since the sentence, 86 legal experts – including former attorneys general, senior Department of Justice officials, United States attorneys and federal judges – have signed a friend of the court brief in this case, stating that the sentence was unfair and unreasonable.
Rubashkin’s supporters ask that the community continue to pray for him, as they highlight the injustice of his trial and sentence.
“Please pray for his case on this special day,” they wrote in an email. “His new chapter in Tehillim is now Kapital 56, in which it states ‘In God I trusted, I will not fear. What can man do to me?'”
They asked to “Please take on a resolution in his merit and continue davening for Sholom Mordechai halevi ben Rivka. His new kapitul Tehillim is nun vov (56).”
Additionally, donations are requested for help with his ongoing legal fees. “Funds are still needed. We know everyone has already helped out so much but you can still make a difference in this man’s life,” they said.

I am taking on a hachlata to say Kris’s shema from a siddur before bed. Shalom Mordecai halevi Ben Rivka should have a complete yeshuah. Enough is enough Hashem. We need moshiach now! Rabbi rubashkin needs to come home.
how can we contacthim to write or give chizuk
you are both right but what I’m want to say is that he is the most sweetest and kindest guy ever Shalom Rubashkin
You are hilarious.
First of all – decide: piece or peace?
Secondly, I highly doubt that a single case like Rubashkin’s will affect peace in the USA so severely.
IF WE DON’T GET SPEEDY JUSTICE IN THIS TRAVESTY OF A CASE THEN THERE’L BE NO PEACE IN THE USA !
Prestorious is not a murderer, he killed someone accidentally. For that he must still be punished to get into his head when to use his fire arm. Also it’s only 5 years bc he had a lot more money to pay a better lawyer. Rubashkin got 27 bc the judge was biased against him.
ITS A CIRCUS
LET SHOLOM MORDECHAI GO!!!
A goy had a similar case to Him and only had to pay a fine!
You are absolutely right. I was thinking the same thing. It’s olam hasheker! the only explanation: גזרה היא מלפני….
You’re right, murderers should get longer sentences and/or be murdered. Letting them out after only five years (or doing what Israel does vda”l) is injustice at its worst.
But that’s not related to Rubashkin..
And while we’re talking about injustice, how about Pollard? He’s a LOT worse off than Rubashkin is…
The main question is, what’s being done to help him???
Can’t stop crying. Listening to his son’s letter on the phone number listed…it’s just unbearable. Hashem please please release sholom mordechai halevi ben rivka TODAY, RIGHT NOW!! Please Hashem!!!!!
Taking on a hachlota and saying tehillim
27 YEARS FOR WHAT? BREAKING THE LAW? HE DIDNT KILL ANYONE OR EVEN HURT ANYONE.
PISTORIUS GET 5 YEARS PRISON AND WILL BE LET OUT IN 10 MONTHS FOR TAKING AN INNOCENT LIFE!
JUSTICE? WHERE IS THE JUSTICE?
agree with all the above. Such a fine person, erlich yid. Its time for him to be released.
“…have signed a friend of the court brief in this case, stating that the sentence was unfair and unreasonable.” How about: “Barbaric, vicious and ‘Nazilike?’ I went through the NYC Public School System, and compared to the brainwashing job they did on me I see America isn’t that far from ISIS if you listen to all the ideal pictures of America that are painted for you when you are young…too young to realize…but not young enough to be indoctrinated. There are thousands of other examples. Welcome to ‘Barbaric America’ with an idiotic justice system. The only reason to become a… Read more »
Its a crazy himmel geshrei. Ad Mosai? This man deserves to be home, free with his wonderful wife and beautiful children. This is nuts.
Can they change his sentence?

Shalom is a good and kind hearted person that was served a cruel and harsh injustice . We must continue to care for him and his good family . May HaShem bless and look after them. We must do our part.
