why do we now sign it a bit different? “Ein Lanu Melech – Pause abd the Ela Ota” was that the way it was sang by the rebbes fargrbrengens?
As a non Lubavitcher who has spent much of his adult life in Lubavitch it’s always interesting toe how Lubavitchers get excited about this type of thing. In non Lubavitch circles singing a niggun is not seen in any way as a nod to the group that created the niggun. They will sing any beautiful niggun which everyone always agreed Chabad had plenty of.
Thanks for Posting
This is the way the Alter Rebbe composed it, this the original version, the way it’s sung during davining is a variation, which I believe the Rebbe initiated.
I was once at a non lubavitcher wedding & the bochurim were singing many of the lubavitcher nigunim. I asked one of the bochurim why these nigunim and he told me because they have feeling and ernestkeit. I asked him where did they learn them so well & he said they have a seder niggunim to learn the songs.
honestly not that many..

Interesting…
says the Alter Rebbe composed 10 niggunim, this was 1 of them.
You have no idea how many bochurim are learning Tanya in all of the Yeshivas today. Yes. Even in Yeshivas that Assur learning Tanya.
To appreciate the excitement expressed by some of the above comments, one must be aware of the awesome power of a niggun, and especially a niggun composed by a Chabad Rebbe – and especially the Alter Rebbe – as explained by the Chabad Rebbeim themselves. Without this awareness, the comments may seem childish. One must also remember that with a niggun, the Alter Rebbe broke the back of the misnagdim’s opposition. With a niggun he repelled Napoleon. Etc. Kol ba’alei sheir. All the worlds revolve around niggunim of various forms. Even the geulah will be ultimately realized with the tenth… Read more »

Why are we so excited that they are singing this song ???
and heichal neginah
It’s not any sort of compliment or flattery when someone sings a niggun it’s a beautiful song about a common God unless you think the sung is about a different deity that is it’s no big deal really

Not just a “lubavitcher” song, it’s the Alter Rebbe’s niggun. I also hear them singing the Alter Rebbe’s Keili Ata niggun (though to different words in davvening). If only they knew the composer of the song…
So that we can set a record straight….
I heard from rabbi Moshe Wolfson that the Litvikers sing it that way because the ‘comma’ makes more sense… OVINU MALKENU EIN LONU MELECH ( then a pause) sounds like Our Father Our King, we have no king. Their way says it all in one sentence… Our Father Our King, we have no king besides You!
Imitation is the best type of flattery. We don’t even need it. It was most probably sung by the boys that secretly learn Tanya.
Moschiah could come now !
No change.
Listen to it on Nichoach
Wow, Moshiach’s coming
Is the same as on nichoach!
