Rabbis, dignitaries and public figures gathered for a reception celebrating the Jewish new year at the Chabad Jewish Educational Center in Berlin, Germany.
In attendance were Mr. Klaus-Dieter Grohler, member of the German Parliament, Mr. Klaus Kandt, Chief of the Berlin Police Department, the ambassadors of Bulgaria and Slovenia, and Ministers from the Embassies of the US, Canada, Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Serbia, among other guests.
“I have arrived in Berlin only recently,” shared Mr. Osokin, the Minister of the Embassy of Russian Federation in Germany, “and I am so glad to begin my work here with getting to know the local Jewish community,” he said.
The guests were welcomed by Julia Katz, a lawyer and an active member of the Chabad synagogue. They were then were greeted by Rabbi Yehuda Teichtal, Shliach in Berlin and Director of the Jewish Educational Center.
Rabbi Shmuel Segal then blew the Shofar, followed by a beautiful violin performance by student of the Jewish Traditional School Gabriel Malaev. After the main program, everyone was invited to enjoy the kosher sushi buffet along with a selection of wine.
The evening was marked by the friendly support and cooperation between Chabad and a number of public figures and organizations in Germany.
“We are honored to have such important guests with us tonight,” said Rabbi Teichtal, “and we are happy to share the joy of our traditions with all.”
