Over 750 Attorneys and Judges attended the 8th Annual Jewish Law Symposium on Monday September 16th at the Birchwood Manor, in Whippany. The Symposium featured a panel discussion entitled: “Why Can’t We All Get Along – Difficult Clients, Families in Business, and Inheritances.”
Jeff Greenfield, five-time Emmy Award-winning TV Journalist and author moderated the program, and featured panelists included the Honorable John W. Bissell, Chief U.S. District Judge (Ret.), Robert E. Margulies Esq., Nancy Erika Smith Esq., H. Glenn Tucker Esq., and Rabbi Daniel Rapp Esq., noted Talmudic Scholar, author and lecturer.
After a buffet dinner reception, David B. Wolfe Esq. introduced Rabbi Shalom Lubin, founder of the Jewish Law Symposium and Executive Director of Chabad of SE Morris County, who thanked all the attendees and sponsors, and shared the significance of the symposium being two days before the Jewish High Holidays.
“The High Holidays are a time to reflect on uniting our families and our people, and tonight we are united with this common goal- to learn, to grow, and to explore the ethics and values of our faith. Tonight we strive to achieve balance in our individual personal and professional lives,” said Lubin.
Jeff Greenfield then moderated the 2-hour discussion, in which the Jewish Law, Civil Law, and Ethical perspectives of the panelists were discussed and debated in a lively round table format.
“I find this program to be intellectually stimulating and fascinating; I love attending every year! If you come to the Jewish Law Symposium, you will walk away with a body of knowledge you will never forget!” said Event Chair Cary B. Cheifetz, of Ceconi & Cheifetz, LLC.
Over the past 7 years, the Jewish Law Symposium has become a premier event on the New Jersey Legal Community, and past panelists include Justice Barry T. Albin, Justice Gary S. Stein and Justice Virginia Long, all of the NJ Supreme Court, Hon. Stanley R. Chesler, Hon. Freda L. Wolfson, U.S.D.J., and “The Ethicist” Randy Cohen.
