In commemoration of September 11, Valley Chabad in Woodcliff Lake, NJ recently hosted Rabbi Aaron L. Raskin, well known author and Shliach.
Shliach Rabbi Dov Drizin opened the evening by blowing the shofar; he also invited audience members to attend Valley Chabad’s High Holiday services. Rabbi Raskin then took the podium to address the crowd of Jewish Woodcliff Lake residents, and students from the local Eastwick College’s Cultural Diversity Class.
The lecture, “Protective Edge,”’ focused on the protective properties of the mezuzah, with Rabbi Raskin explaining how it is the ultimate home security device. Rabbi Raskin recounted a number of inspiring stories recorded in his book, Guardian of Israel: Miracle Stories of Tefillin and Mezuzah, while revealing the power of the mezuzah and how it has changed the lives of millions of individuals around the world. He also told a personal mezuzah miracle story connected with September 11, divulging how an entire firehouse in Brooklyn was saved by one mezuzah.
After his address, those present were able to purchase books, or have their personal books signed by Rabbi Raskin.
Many shared their personal tefillin and mezuzah stories as well.
