Dear Crown Heights residents,
As you know this election season has been a busy one. After much consultation and internal discussions, we believe that the candidates we are endorsing below are the right leaders our community needs right now. Many of you will say that this is the same old, and nothing is going to change.
Well, we believe that things will, because many of the candidates we have endorsed are running in very tight races, and they are leaning very strongly on the Jewish community to help them win which in return will allow us to get their attention when requesting services and assistance to our community.
Many of us have to run around the borough to find the appropriate agencies and programs that provide the services we all may need; from purchasing health insurance, applying for a business loan, registering for affordable housing, section eight, WIC, navigating city and state government and so much more.
Well, those times are now over; one of the candidates who is running for state senate has promised to open a satellite office that handles the above mentioned services right here in our very own community. This way we will not need to go elsewhere, it will all be located in one place. To our knowledge no other politician has ever offered or promised such a thing to our community.
As we all know Brooklyn as a whole and Crown Heights in particular is rapidly changing, and unless we unify and make sure our voices are heard through our votes, then we will be pushed aside by other communities and groups who now call Crown Heights home.
Our community needs now more than ever a strong and vocal leader who can navigate the large bureaucracy of government, and help pass legislation that will help our community with the rising costs of living and tuition. Our choice for such a leader is Rubain Dorancy!
These are the candidates who we endorse and encourage you to vote for are on Tuesday September 9th:
Andrew Cuomo for Governor
Kathy Hochul for Lt. Governor
Rubain Dorancy for State Senator
Moses Moore for State Committee Male Representative (District Leader)
Shirley Patterson for State Committee Female Representative (District Leader)
Diana Szochet for Civil Court Judge
We implore every eligible and registered voter of the Crown Heights Jewish community to come and vote; help make our voices heard!
Wishing you all a k’siva v’chasima tova,
Avi Lesches, Shlomie Hecht and Sruly Clapman
The Crown Heights Political Club (made up of the young shuls and emerging young leaders within the Jewish community of Crown Heights)
Sounds like these candidates think we are fools, they think that we will vote for them for taking photo ops in our community but give us nothing in return.
Is the next Macher!! Move over old folks and let him trough. Hes got the ability to really make things happen. His rolodex is thick. (some say he’s a call away from Bill Clinton!).
I’ll vote too….B”LN
BS”D
I give them points for trying and being involved while the commentators sit home and do what they do best-comment
Far right of the picture!!!
Republicans stand no chance here. However, why don’t you give examples of what the candidates records look like. What laws did they pass or what did they push through. What are their views – quote them.
Are you all vying for a job in government! Good for you!
I respect the names on this letter but their making a big mistake. New and exciting doesn’t automatically equal better judt look back to 2008…
Jesse is thw old n boring candidate but he’s the right one.
Motti Harlig macht zicher der shchunah gait al ha’sader. Yasher koach!
This guy that is being pushed by Mr. Lesches and the Clarke family has very little if NO experience in government affairs. Is this the guy we want to vote for to help advocate for us in Albany?? Jessie Hamilton, on the other hand has been in government for 25 years. Need we say more….
isn’t mendy raitport, a local lubavitcher running?
Yeah CH keep supporting the party that will take from Peter to pay Paul. This is like feeding the crocodile thinking you are saving yourself only to realize that you will be eaten up last. Keep putting in power the Dems you only will reap what you sow. Backing Cuomo and the other shmendricks will give you higher taxes and a harder business environment. You wonder where you money goes-it is your fault that the government is taking it all. You don’t want high taxes, high spending and lots of regulations, but you keep voting in the same commies. Wake… Read more »
Seriously? Are these candidates REALLY what’s best for CH? I don’t think so!
Don’t know why their putting politics above our own communities good. This guy has absolutely no credibility.
Hopefully these “young leaders” will learn with experience.
