The Rav has clearly touched out a cord within the Jewish community. With his depth of clarity and piercing perspectives, he is reintroducing the paths of Kabbala to the underinitiated. We, the recipients, are all for the better of it.

Unhealthy Guilt vs. Healthy Guilt

To comment on post 2, I would bring to the forefront something I learned from psychologist John Bradshaw’s books. There is a healthy guilt to alert us that we’ve done something wrong. Unhealthy guilt is when we live in the guilt for longer than is effective. Allow me to clarify: When we hurt another, for example, we feel a natural sense of guilt that we crossed a boundary and caused another’s suffering. Ashamnu actually means "we have transgressed"

Ashamnu means "we are guilty"

Look up a dictionary. Guilt is feeling responsible for ones errors. It may not make us feel good, but can make us a better person. It doesn’t have to lead to depression it is a learning opportunity. New Age spirituality can’t handle guilt.
