What events are you doing during finals? How many students did you host at your last Shabbos meal? what kind of events did you do during “Bein Ha’maitzarim”? What are you planning for the days of Slichos?
These are just some of the questions that could be heard echoing throughout the Nir Etzion hotel during the kinus Hashluchim of University and college campus shluchim from all across Israel, within the framework of ‘Chabad on campus-Israel’. A group of Shluchim whose activities have been developing at an incredible rate over the last two years, and is causing an incredible revolution among many students all across Israel.
“This is one of the special units of Chabad in Israel,” says Rabbi Moshe Shilat of Chabad on Campus management. “The revolution of spreading the wellsprings starts with the young generation, with students.”
“So far, the results we are seeing are amazing and beyond all expectation,” he said. “We are witnessing the strength of the Rebbe our Mishaleiach, and the actualization of his Brachos among the campus shluchim in an extraordinary way.”
“The experiences and success stories that we are hearing from Shluchim throughout the conference surprised us,” says Rabbi David Kurz, General Director of Chabad on Campus-Israel. “But this is just the beginning.”
An incredibly uplifting Shabbos was experienced by the Shluchim, with special guest being Rabbi Menachem Mendel Gluckowsky, vice secretary of Beit din Rabanei Chabad and Rabbi of the Chabad community in Rechovot and his wife. During the kinnus Rabbi Gluckowsky Farbrenged and gave lectures for the Shluchim, he also taught a special Halacha class for the Shluchos.
One of the highlights for the Shluchos was an empowering panel discussion on Friday, where they shared experiences and spoke about various challenges that come along with the campus activities, specifically hosting weekly Shabbos meals. It should be noted that the number of students being hosted every week by the Shluchim for Shabbos meals, exceeds 800!
A special video presentation by the shluchim was screened on Motzei Shabbos. In the video, students from various campuses were interviewed and expressed appreciation of the Shluchim’s activities, as well as the personal influence and impact on their lives.
Afterwards there was a Meleve Malka and lively farbrengen with Rabbi Gluckowsky and the mashpia Rabbi Yoseph Yitzchak Gansburg, that lasted the entire night. During the farbrengen every shliach spoke of a unique experience from his respective shlichus.
At an energetic Sunday morning summary meeting the Shluchim could be seen brainstorming large scale future initiatives for students.
While speaking with one of the Shluchim at the end of the Kinnus he told us, “we are all leaving the kinnus feeling uplifted, there is no doubt that the revolution of Chabad on campus-Israel, has just begun.”
We were just in Nir Etzion last Shabbat & in the office is a massive picture of the Rebbe that you guys left behind. Go get it, it shouldn’t be left there to be damaged.
