I was a OT elementary student from out of town. Rabbi Shapiro always holds a special place in my heart as a teacher/vp who cared for and felt and immense personal responsibility for his students. His passing was sudden and left a mark on all of us.

Reb Levitche was a shining, loving, dugma chai in so many ways…may the seeds of his chessed and Torah continue to sprout infinite goodness and bring Moshiach…and may he be here neshama bguf with his children, may they be blessed with success bgashmius and bruchnius, and his grandchildren

Avrumi and Nuchie, very happy that you are doing this. Your father was truly a special yid and his story should be shared so that others can learn from him.

Today there is a movement for Melamdim to become professionals – many of them are missing the most important ingredient; teaching by being a dugma chaya. Rabbi Shapiro was a true mechanech, a true digma chaya of a chasid and bal midos toivos.

Mimenu yiru v’chein yasu.

Many many years ago, my young son was in a local elementary school and his Rebbe spoke to him in public in a very rude and rough manner. Rabbi Shapiro saw my son’s embarrasment and insisted that the Rebbe apologize to my son, which he did. Soon after, Rabbi Shapiro was niftar. This was back in the day when talmidim had no rights. Rabbi Shapiro cared.
