Camp Gan Israel of S. Paul, MN recently hosted Camp Ashira and Camp Shemesh for ‘Achdut Day’, a day full of fun and unity.
During the three weeks when we mourn the destruction of the Bet Hamikdosh which was caused by ‘sinat chinam’ – baseless hatred, we try to increase in ‘ahavat chinam’- unconditional love and kindness.
The siege on the Bet Hamikdosh began nine days before its destruction on the ninth of Menachem Av and it is during those days that Camp Gan Israel enthusiastically planned for and hosted the camps for the ‘Day of Unity’.
Camp Gan Israel is directed by Rabbi Yosaif and Naomi Grossbaum and under the auspices of Rabbi Moshe Feller of Midwest Chabad Lubavitch.
The campers had a fun filled day together singing songs, enjoying carnival games, and participating in exciting activities that centered on a goal of unification and acceptance.
Campers davened for our brother in Israel and that Hashem protect all of the Soldiers fighting and bring them home safely. They also davened for the those in need of a speedy recovery, world peace and the immediate geulah of Sholom Mordechai Halevi ben Rivka.
Rabbi Moshe Feller shared a story with the children about the Bal Shem Tov and taught a special song “If a Jew would only know”, to emphasize this theme of unity, kindness and acceptance. The campers left with high spirits, new friends and fantastic lasting memories.
Thank you to our wonderful and dedicated staff for making this day a huge success!
