Postville Yeshivas Kayitz just completed another highly successful summer. More than 35 bochurim joined, with some coming from as far as Australia and South Africa.
What drew them all to Iowa? There were many things that they came for, including the high standards of learning, a most enjoyable and relaxing environment, coupled with a hanhala and staff who are famous for being sensitive and involved.
Unquestionably though, what made it as successful as it turned out to be, was that they were an amazing group of bochurim who came with a contagiously good attitude, ready to learn and wanting to have a chassidishe and fun summer.
In a break from some of the more traditional yeshivas kayitz programs, the hanhala prepared an in-depth, thorough and engaging learning curriculum which was followed throughout the day. The bochurim spent many hours a day learning in a pleasing setting, interspersed with a healthy dose of mealtime and recreational breaks.
The highlight of the learning program was the morning seder iyun in which the bochurim got to learn the topic of chalav and gevinas yisroel (milk and cheese of a Jew), beginning with how it is taught in gemara, through the rabbinic writings of the ages, and all the way until its modern applications by contemporary poskim.
The learning program was brought to a conclusion with a most fitting presentation by the proprietor of the renowned Mitzva Farms, and a trip to the Iowa Dairy Foundation, a dairy learning center.
In addition, many of the bochurim volunteered to learn the material to an even higher standard and were tested on it. They were appropriately awarded with a certificate of honor and a gift card to the Sosover seforim store of SeforimSets.com.
The bochurim had many farbrengens throughout the summer, as well. Whether it was the yeshivas kayitz staff or hanhala that farbrenged with them, whether members of the community came to farbreng, or guests from out of town who were brought in for a farbrengen, they were always with a spirit of sheves achim and always inspiring and uplifting.
Of course, the bochurim went on a variety of trips throughout the summer. Including canoeing on the Root River, Mountain biking in neighboring Minnesota, A Shabbaton in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, rollerblading, bowling, a visit to the Woodworking Museum of America, a climb deep down into the Niagara caves, and more.
By the time the yeshivas kayitz came to a conclusion, the bochurim were so enthralled by their experience that a significant number of their parents are in the process of applying to have them join the Mesivta for the coming year. And of course, the yeshiva is looking forward to welcoming them back as well.

Postvillian…
My son had a terrific summer and is looking forward to spending the year there. Call the yeshiva if you are looking for a place. The atmosphere is both chassidish and relaxing. I found the staff to be understanding of my son’s needs. The learning was uniquely designed to satisfy the strong motivated learners and the learners who found sitting difficult. 5635170005. Call the yeshiva and see if it works for your son. There is no reason why any bochur who understands that yeshiva is about learning and behaving in a chassidishe manner, should be without a place to go.… Read more »
