MBC Concert
Benny sung well but needs to polish up stage presence and commentaries. Too often sings with his back to audience trying to conduct orchestra , which is only a reflection of his nerves. The mini-jog looks ridiculous. Watch MBD in his early years. Faces the camera and crowd, and stands in one spot totally immersed in the song he is singing. TG Begun lost his voice so he couldn't sing but still appeared when no one needed him. Concert in general was not as good as in past years.

mixed seating! why?
Benny, parnoso is an important part of getting married etc. but, singing at an event with men & women sittiing together, is sending our kids the wrong message. If you are gonna improve your style and make it, you gotta make the right moves!

go benny
ppl no need to be critical. benny is bh an extremely talented guy just trying to do what he loves doing. how comfortable would you be singing in front of an audience that size? he does very very well, and if you are criticizing him because you truly care then do so privately. he is a sweet boy who doesnt deserve to be bashed online. 9: are you his rav? his mashpia? no. didnt think so. then frankly, nobody asked your opinion.

mixed seating
there is nothing wrong with family seating, when you go to a restaurant to you make sure to sit in a room with only men? when you walk down the street do you make sure to only walk on the mens side? if you dont like the concert dont go, but dont bash someone and say loshon harah in public. you need to go ask mechila from benny

Agree with #20
Some people are mamash just nasty. I mean, if they really really cared, they could go and talk to benny personally. what do they accomplish by posting it online. pure rishus. mamash jealousy. mamash sinas chinum. I doubt Benny looks at all these comments anyway.

family shmamily
call it what you want. "family seating" or "family piknik"....
it's "mixed seating" plain and simple. i was not there and didn't see a video so, can't comment on his performance.
however, the seating was not proper. end of story.

mixed seating
we should not judge on mixed seating. are we perfect ourselves; maybe we say more loshon horan than the people who dont mind the seating, so STOP THE CRTISISM!!!!!

MBC Concert - To #25
In answer to your questions, yes I do sing. Yes I have been on stage in front of so many people. I think I am someone who can offer constructive criticism. I know Benny is the next coming. But my feedback is not negative. If anything, he will be better off because of it. Even the King of Jewish music, Avraham Fried (or is he the Prince according to MBD loyalists?) took stage lessons. No embarrassment there. Benny's voice is raw and will get better. But it is far from the finished product. So let's not get to carried away with adulation.

wow. this Benny kid is special
Big ups to Benny friedman on a spectacular performance. You are a shining star with so much to give. We look forward to a brilliant career filled with meaningful chassidishe songs straight from the heart.

curious
Back to my original question. I have no problem with mixed seating or family seating. I was only wondering was there also available totally separate seating for those requesting or prefering it.??

HOOOOORAY!!!!!!!!!!
that looks sooooooo much fun .
but how about a choir for the England people
like in manchester for example.
why should we miss out on all the fun?????????
(4/14/2009 6:55:15 AM)

(4/14/2009 8:02:06 AM)

insecure
to all of the family and loyal friends of benny: your over reaction to some direct and constructive critisizm, calling it jealously, etc. etc., just shows that, where there is smoke there must be fire. you guys just bringing your insecurities to the forefront and are not doing anything positive for benny.

benny is a guy who is trying to make it into the business and might succeed (with Gods help) to an extent but, i have been following the newcomers for many years and am a bit of a "maiven" in the field. given the chance, he will go a long way, and we wish him the best.

however, the fact is that he is just not m.b.d or a.f. material, and never will be. this is just the opinion of an individual and you benny lovers should not find the need to take the head off of some-one who does not agree with you.

let us be allowed to disagree without insulting one another.
after all, this is what an open comment forum is all about.

a gut moeed.

adaya
I think, the people in general do not deserve so much for all replies in this forum. He just a guy trying to be a great singer, and because of his uncle, he succeeded in a certain time. But he makes mistake after mistake, and not studying. And maybe he will be lucky to succeed. Just like you!
(4/15/2009 6:42:37 AM)

fan of benny
# 40 whats your issue? Are you a fortune teller or just playing G-d? I understand you think yourself a maven and all, but don't start issuing verdicts and judgements on what benny will be, or will never be. And you don't need to be a maven to know that somebody has a great voice, and sings hartzige songs, and gets through to his audiences in a great way. Just look at Benny's performances "The songs and stories of Shabbos" Their great, and creative. I don't care how you, the maven, classify benny, but he's got major talent and creativity, and I'm sure he will go very, very far. And it's not a competition. He will carve his own niche.
