Does anyone know which Chabad house he volunteered for or how to find out what his 3 children need who are now orphans? I manage a Gemach assisting orphans, usually at the time they marry, but we’d like to send some things to his children. Does anyone know how to contact them or which Chabad house he volunteered for? The Chabad house must surely know how to contact his widow. If anyone has info, please email us to [email protected] The needs of an orphan last for the rest of their lives. Anyone else who would like to contribute, we give… Read more »

July 16, 2014 9:54 am

Bd”e Ad MOSSAI hashem in if already bring us moshiach today. Not the first but last casualty. Doesn’t matter if he was Lubavitch or not he was doing shlichus work out of complete mesirus nefesh . Please don’t give reasons such as the cease fire and the such since we’re not hashem and can’t make his cheshbonos or understand his ways. These will not be 3 weeks of war but rather a miraculous victory fought by hashem these will turn into 3 weeks of geula!!!! Hashem please protect us and cause the world to see your greatness by fighting for… Read more »

the Rebbe once mentioned when speaking about yud shvat 5711- he is avoiding using the word “first” yahrzeit hoping there will be no more

When I first saw the headline about agreeing to the cease-fire, my thoughts were the same as yours. Then after reading other articles I decided that it was actually a very smart thing to do, because Hamas refused, which makes them look bad to the world, including the other Arabs who were the ones that proposed it to begin with. We started bombing again after a few hours with a statement that since Hamas refused the cease-fire and is still firing rockets, we have the right to defend ourselves. Remember, Yaakov Ovinu taught us we have to do THREE things… Read more »

5. May Hashem remove all of our enemies immediately because it seems nobody else will!!!
July 15, 2014 6:44 pm

How tragic, unjust & unbearable that another one of our people were killed! I also think the “cease”fire was a HUGE mistake. Living in Israel especially during these times is very frustrating when you know that anyone at anytime can be hurt chas v shalom. We are all like helpless sitting ducks unless Netanyahu takes full action which he has yet to do. Instead he fired his Defense Minister for strongly voicing his opinions against the idea of a cease fire! Every siren in my own area or anyone else’s is terrifying even though B”H it is so obvious that… Read more »

Sad day today...we are entering three weeks of war
July 15, 2014 5:18 pm

This is a war of survival..Make no mistake about it. Israel is facing a determined enemy. I urge all to pray for the well being of our Holy Soldiers. As a father of an IDF soldier, my days are filled with fear and fright.Pray with your hearts and your souls. This is a war of survival for millions of Jews in EY.

first????

Iron Dome - "The shield of David" or " The shield of Abraham"
July 15, 2014 4:16 pm

I can say that we suffered a horrible loss of life of a jewish man doing a mitzvah under the enemy fire. May his soul have peace in Gan Eden! He gave his life for Kiddish Hashem. We must stop defining him as his level of service. In the shamaim this is irrelevant! This is the time to pray for his soul and his family. He died as a hero! I also want to say that the system used to protect our people from the enemy rockets should have been called ” The shield of David”, or the shield of… Read more »

July 15, 2014 4:03 pm

Everything you said in your comment. May Hashem help that we be zocheh to Hashem’s ongoing miracles – as the rebbe said “Israel the safest place in the world” – “The Land that Hashem’s eyes are on it from beginning until the end of the year”.

First?
July 15, 2014 3:18 pm

When you write “first” it implies that more is to come.

Correct title
July 15, 2014 3:13 pm

It wasn’t rockets it was a mortar attack

To the above
July 15, 2014 3:09 pm

In the Chabad community, many were shaken up by reports that a specific Chabadnik had ch”v been hurt; the job of a news organization is to clarify such rumors and help inform people what has happened.

If someone had said “BH not a Chabadnik!” that would be disgusting and inappropriate. Identifying the individual and clarifying where he’s from are simply responsible journalism.

However, COL should delete the comment with a specific (and BH incorrect) name.

Only Jew - change title!!!
July 15, 2014 3:03 pm

July 15, 2014 2:49 pm

does it matter if he was a chabad or not, a jew got killed that is bad enough

The difference
July 15, 2014 2:37 pm

Our people step into danger to help the soldiers. Their soldiers hide behind their people to kill others. Innocent people are being killed but each in a very different fashion.

bd"e
July 15, 2014 2:33 pm

Very tragic that it has come to fruition of first casualty. I believe that the ceasefire declared cost the Jewish people G-d’s miraculous protection. Netanyahu was fighting a milchemet mitzvah (very meekly if I may add) and thus had G-d as a partner and miraculously G-d’s Iron Dome protected the Jews from the over 1,000 rocket barrage. As soon as a premature ceasefire was called without achieving the war’s holy mission of protection of Israel, our partnership with G-d in this war has deeply suffered. To shame that the Jewish people don’t have true leadership of Moshiach Tzidkeinu or at… Read more »

July 15, 2014 2:03 pm

the sheliach says he is not chabad and he had to tweet it
please say the sheliach name

so hes not on chabad.org
July 15, 2014 2:01 pm

so he is not chabad

What is the diff
July 15, 2014 2:01 pm

Why is this what we are discussing here?
If he is a chabad chossid or not? regardless its a yid that was r”l killed just because he is a jew.
I think we should be more concerned about his family and what they are going through as opposed to whether he is a shliach or chabadnik or not.

mesirus nefesh!
July 15, 2014 1:59 pm

it says that when people die for mesirus nefesh, moshiach will come. this is a clear sign that today the 17 of tammuz moshiach will come today!!!!

Respectfully,

A Jew is a Jew is a Jew. Highlighting in the headlines his affiliation is divisive and offensive. Whatever his affiliation , may his blood be avenged . Please reference it in the article , should you so desire but headlines tell most of the story. Your headline implies that it would be less important if it was not a lubavitcher

human
July 15, 2014 1:31 pm

whether chabad chosid, jew, civilian, it was simply a human killed for nothing.
this is one of the ugly sides of humanity and is done to and by all stripes.

A concerned Yid.

What, so now you forgotten about that 78 year lady which died whilst trying to run for a rocket. Yes I understand she did not die because of the rocket having a direct hit, but she did die due to the tumor as an effect.

Not a chabadnik!
