The Jewish community of greater Houston gathered on Wednesday for an evening of inspiration and reflection, marking the 20th yahrtzeit of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, of righteous memory.
Hosted by the 9 Chabad Lubavitch Centers of the greater Houston area and broadcast live by Jewish.TV, “Timeless Leadership,” on Wednesday, June 25, had a panel discussion exploring the Rebbe’s leadership and legacy.
Rabbi Barry Gelman of United Orthodox Synagogues served as master of ceremonies.
Dennis Prager, nationally syndicated radio host, moderated the program, which was inspirational and reflective, attainable by Jews of any and no affiliation.
On the panel were:
Rabbi Simon Jacobson, best-selling author of “Toward a Meaningful Life,” and part of the team of scholars which wrote and prepared the Rebbe’s teachings for publication.
Rabbi Yosef Chaim Kantor, Chief Rabbi and Director of Chabad of Thailand. With four Chabad Centers, run by 10 rabbinical families, the Thailand Chabad Houses serve both their local Jewish communities, as well as the tens of thousands of Jewish travelers.
Mrs. Miriam Lipskier, co-director of the Chabad Student Center at Emory University. Together with her husband and seven children, she created a vibrant community of Jewish life and learning and is a teacher of Jewish thought and spirituality.

It sounds like there was a large crowd, but no numbers have been mentioned and no pics of them. How many people were in attendance?
all of the speakers were great, very inspiring and informative.
Things of this sort is what COL should continue to put up.
Wow super inspiring !!
Great job Miriam
When did u become such an amazing speaker?
great idea to have a panel and include different styles and genders. the panelists did wonderfully and Mr. Prager asks good questions.
one note: please edit out Mr. Prager’s unnecessary references to ideas that are anathema to Judaism and the belief in one G-d. That he said it at the time, is bad enough. But to perpetuate it and broadcast throughout the world liolam voed?
and it was awesome. we really enjoyed it!
Thank you for COL for making this available to the rest of us.
The Prager comments and moderation session were amazing.
The three panelists each brought a different flavor to the discussion, the chemistry worked amazingly.
Rabbi Jacobson had such a smooth and palatable delivery to explain the subject matter.
Rabbi Kantor had the vigor and enthusiasm that a true and selfless shliach exudes.
Rebitzin Lipsker had such warm and non wavering personal anecdotes that drove the message straight home.
You all were amazing. You should have great hatzlacha in your shlichus.
