Chabad of Kingsborough held a gala dinner to honor Mr. Aleksandr Korchmar for his outstanding support.
Among those in attendance were, New York City Councilman Chaim Deutsch, Vice Chairman of Merkos Linyonei Chinuch and Chairman of the Kinus Hashluchim Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, Director of Tzach, Rabbi Shmuel Butman, Program Director of Tzach Rabbi Kasriel Kastel and Member of the Vaad of Tzach since its inception, Rabbi Moshe Goldman. Several fellow Shluchim were in attendance as well.
The guests praised the work done by Chabad of Kingsborough in serving the spiritual needs of the Jewish students at Kingsborough Community College and the community.
In addition, Chabad of Kingsborough runs Camp Gan Yisroel Chamah annually, which has been founded and directed by Mrs. Chani Zaltzman since 1999 and co-sponsored by Chamah.
Camper Khai (Yecheskel) Yakubov of Camp Gan Israel Chamah, spoke about having his Bar Mitzvah at camp last summer, about learning to put on tefilin, and the importance of observing Shabbos and the various Jewish holidays. As a result, this camper, a public school student, now puts on tefilin every day, goes to Shul, keeps Shabbos, and has encouraged his father to observe Yom Kippur.
Rabbi Efraim Zaltzman, director Chabad of Kingsborough said, “It was amazing to see the energy and excitement from the community.”
The crowd was entertained by the “Levites” music duo, and participants received the book “Seeds of Wisdom.”
Kingsborough student Leibel Gordon spoke about the impact of the work of Chabad of Kingsborough.
“Rabbi Zaltzman’s lectures have practical application to the students’ lives,” he said.
