Friends are teaming up to support a Lubavitcher father who is battling primary-progressive multiple sclerosis (PPMS), characterized by steady worsening of neurologic functioning.
A fundraising campaign on GoFundme.com is aiming to help with covering the high medical bills of Mendy Fellig who worked as a corporate attorney in the Canadian city of London in Southwestern Ontario.
Up until recently, Fellig has been working full time and providing for his wife Yael (nee Goldberg) and their 4-year-old daughter. As of last month, as he nears his 37th birthday, he is completely paralyzed.
“During my visit with Mendy in London today, I saw how tough the situation has become,” Hillel Gammal, a childhood friend and classmate at Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch in Montreal, said on Tuesday.
“Through all the ups and downs, Mendy has met the challenges with a smile on his face. Recently, the declines have been more difficult to manage than ever,” Gammal said about the unpredictable disease that interferes with the brain’s ability to operate the body.
Compared with people who have relapsing-remitting MS, those with the primary progressive may also have more trouble doing their jobs and their normal activities.
“There is a real need to help support Mendy emotionally, and financially,” Gammal said. “Many of these expenses have already been incurred, and most are not covered by medicare. We are hopeful that through our prayers, Mendy will make a speedy and miraculous recovery.”
The fundraising goal is $36,000. The campaign page spells out the ongoing expenses the Felligs need to pay, including caregivers and nurses, physiotherapy and transportation, mobility equipment and rental of an electric hospital bed.

Menachem Mendel Ben Shoshana. He has never been called to the Torah by a name other than Menachem Mendel.
Would like to put him on a tehillim list, but there are different opinions regarding his name. If someone could find out from a reliable source whether it is Menachem Mendel Ben Shoshana or Menachem Mendel Tzvi Ben Shoshana, it would be much appreciated. Thank You!

There seems to have been a glitch with the site. The campaign had raised over $17,000 just before noon today. Then payments were cancelled due to a glitch in the system. If you made a contribution, please check your email to see if you received notification regarding a cancelled payment. You can resubmit the payment at any time. Please pass along the message, you can also leave it as a comment on your Facebook page if you shared this article or the campaign page itself.

I dont think this is the case. The site takes the funds in Canadian funds (about 11% less than US) but you can donate from the US. Most of the donations were made from US residents with US addresses and cards.
