What’s better than a Great Parade?
Why a greater one, of course!
Echoing their brethren in Crown Heights, the Great Parade of Los Angeles, is getting the word out for this year’s Lag B’Omer Parade under the moniker, “The Great Parade Just Got Better!”
The event is set to the beautiful backdrop of Los Angeles’s replica of 770, all decked out with the 12 Pesukim and crowned with a model-copy of the Rebbe’s place, as it is in the real 770.
Leading the Parade will be a specially designed “upsherin train” whose passengers will be a group of 3 year old boys who will have their upsherin on the train during the Parade. Riding along with them, and cheering them on will be the Bainany division of Kol Yaakov Yehudah.
“We want to give Unzere Kinder a feel of what it’s like by the Rebbe’s Parades,” said Rabbi Mendel Duchman, Director of the Parade and of Kol Yaakov Yehuda, the Los Angeles’s Rebbe’s Diamond daveners which is under the auspices of congregation Levi Yitzchok.
“It’s a chance to give them that shot in the arm, that Chassidishe pride and the strength to move forward with the Rebbe’s call of the hour.
Rabbi Mayer Greene, the ringmaster of the parade, was quick to add, “It’s truly beautiful and inspiring to see schools and groups, both Chabad and Non-Chabad joining together in the children’s ‘Parade of Unity’, on the day that celebrates the Yartzeit of the Rashbi.”
The program will begin with a Tzivos Hashem rally that will include a video of the Rebbe, Divrei Bracha and the recital of the 12 Pesukim.
The parade will also highlight 50 years of Chabad on the West Coast.
This will be followed by, “The Great Parade”; Tzivos Hashem officers, marching bands, colorful floats, servicemen, cheerful clowns and all the regulars expected from a great parade. In addition, this year’s parade will also feature, amongst others: The Pasadena Scots Pipes and Drums, Tuba – the One-Man Walking Band, The Kohanim and the Klei HaMikdosh, and a guest appearance by the Los Angeles Clippers Drumline!
Following the parade, children will be kept at the edge of their seats as they are treated to an Extreme Trampoline Performance by “The Escape Trampwall Performers,” direct from Las Vegas!
The grand finale will be “The Great Parade”, where every school and group proudly marches before all parents and onlookers – all in honor and Hilula of the Rashbi.
Rabbi Boruch Shlomo Cunin, Director of Chabad West Coast, made the following statement about the Parade:
“We hope that this parade gives the Rebbe much nachas and is a catalyst in bringing about the coming of Moshiach well before this year’s parade, where we will join the parades of Yidden from all over the world for the ultimate ‘Grand Parade!'”
The parade is a joint project of Chabad Youth Programs, Kol Yaakov Yehuda, Yeshiva Ohr Elchanan Chabad, and Cheder Menachem. For more information please check out the parade’s blog @ lagbomerla.blogspot.com/
