They are teaming up all around the world to raise funds to build a permanent home for the camp they love!
The Jewish Girls Retreat is one of those places that is difficult to walk away from untouched. The JGR family and fans are passionate about doing what they can to help the camp they care about. “If we harness that energy, as a group, we could make HUGE THINGS HAPPEN,” says Rivka Leah Cylich, campaign coordinator.
At the four week summer overnight program and a 5-day winter retreat, Jewish girls of all backgrounds join together to learn, grow, and connect through the creative arts and adventurous trips. After 10 summer and 9 winter retreats held in hotels and college dormitories, this life-changing program is finally ready for the next step: a campgrounds of its very own.
“Having our own beautiful grounds will allow us to expand our impact in unimaginable ways,” says Nechama Laber, founder and director. Besides for the financial viability, a property will allow JGR to serve more campers and families year round.”
With JGR’s innovative “Build-a-Bunkhouse” campaign, JGR staff, campers and alumni will raise money towards a permanent home for their beloved camp. They will recruit 100 girls to open up their own fundraising page at http://www.stayclassy.org/events/build-bunkhouse-campaign/e24823 to reach a collective goal of $50,000. Participants will receive a JGR bag after raising $50 and a medal pin for each $100 raised.
The campaign will be launched this Monday with a camp reunion at the Levi Yitzchok Library at 7 pm.
“This campaign is not just about raising money, but empowering the JGR family to contribute to the camp we love and make a difference in a real way. It gives us the opportunity to give back to the place that gives us so much!” says Leah Caras, JGR alum and program director.
Corporate sponsors for the campaign are COLlive.com and the Jewish Press.
