On Thursday the boys and girls of Cheder Menachem and Bais Chaya Mushka in Los Angeles gathered together for a very special Yud Alef Nissan rally, connected via live video to the rally in Crown Heights.
The boys of Cheder cheered wildly when their school’s name was called out as the highest lines of Tanya learned. The program continued with pesukim recited by the boys, in a program run by Rabbi Mendel Duchman, of the Rebbe’s Diamond Daveners children’s Minyan.
In honor of the 40th anniversary (1974- 2014) of Mitzvah Tanks, an exclusive video was put together specially for Los Angeles about the history of the Mitzvah tank, by Shabi Soffer.
Everyone then came outside to wave off the 12 Mitzvah Tanks, which drove through the streets of Hollywood, with the help of the L.A.P.D.
Following the Parade, the tanks were dispersed to UCLA, SMC, Beverly Hills Public Schools, Downtown Los Angeles, Hancock Park, The Grove, and high schools citywide. The boys distributed over 3,000 hand baked Matzohs, guides, kids magazines and other mivtzoim materials.
The L.A. Mitzvah Tank office would like to thank Kol Yakov Yehuda, Cheder Menachem, Unzere Kinder foundation, Congregation Levi Yitzchak, Kol Avrohom-Bais Bezalel, Chabad Persian Youth, the devoted drivers, the bochurim, and our Tankistim who all helped and participated in the beautiful community wide present to the Rebbe.

I remember very clearly just a few years ago sitting around a table in brunoy when jj d says ” guys im gonna pull off a mitzvah tank parade in la for the first time” we were all a bit skeptical at first, but he and shmully pulled it off. The first year was 3 tanks. Last year was 9 i believe.. And bh growing wvery year this year was twelve.
A beautiful example of channeling our energy and drives toward spreading light in this world!
