It was a night that got every person in the crowd in full happiness mode ahead of Purim.
After 4 years of absence, popular Israeli singer Gad Elbaz returned to New York for a full on concert at the Millennium Theater in Brooklyn.
Viewing his high energy up close, it was easy for participants to understand how his music captured both the frum and secular crowds in Israel and worldwide.
Blending ballads, middle-eastern rhythms and modern pop, he sang many of his hit songs from his albums that climbed high on the charts and sold over 200,000 copies in Israel alone.
In addition to the songs “Halyala Haze Hazman,” “Kebatechila,” “Mi shemaminim,” “Al Naharot Bavel,” Jerusalem and “Lishmor Al Hatikva,” he sang his new reggae hit “Miracles.”
The show was produced by New York based concert producer Tzvi Waldman from Citadel Productions and Shlomi Cohen from Zoab Productions – Israel.
The electrified vibe in the crowd was switched to a teary-eyed one, when veteran Israeli singer Beni Elbaz joined his son on stage and sang him the priestly blessing of “Yevarechecha.”
For the finale, Gad Elbaz sang his hit song “Hashem Melech,” portraying the journey he and his father have been on to become frum and believe in Hashem.
“The room was literally shaking from the dancing,” one participant commented. “You felt that what he was singing was real.”
