Sunday afternoon was a busy one for children with special needs, their siblings and families. After a most successful Chanukah Menorah building workshop, the Friendship Circle of Brooklyn once again teamed up with the Home Depot located on Dekalb Ave. in Brooklyn.
Hosted at the JCM, children and parents got the opportunity to build, paint and take home their very own wooden Purim baskets. Baskets were of two variations; heart shaped for girls, and tool box style for boys.
The children had the unique privilege to be visited by Brooklyn’s newly elected Borough President, Mr. Eric Adams. Mr. Adams has been a dear friend of the Friendship Circle since its inception nearly ten years ago, and has kept up his warm connection ever since.
While addressing the crowd, Adams gave a tremendous shout out to the parents, stating “behind every child with special needs, is a most dedicated set of special parents.”
Adams also thanked the Friendship Circle directors Rabbi Berel and Chani Majesky, and pledged his continued assistance to the organization’s special work.
Hamantashen and live music by Mendel Goldman added the perfect touch for a memorable afternoon.
The day’s success is due to the hard work and dedication of the FC volunteers, the staff and crew of the Home Depot store #6957 headed by Ms. Veronica DJ Dockery.

This is absolutely beautiful; it warmed my heart like a burning flame!
To see a group of workers (from home depot!!!) join hands with the friendship circle kids, and help them make their own creations, just reminds me of the time of Moshiach, where people from all walks of life will join together to serve Hashem, and to make his world a fitting resting place for him.
