Flatbush’s Getaway Shabbaton

Flatbush residents fled the cold weather on Shabbos Parshas Vayakhel to enjoy the warm and inspiring 2nd Annual Mayan Yisroel Shabbaton held at the luxurious Double Tree Hilton in Tarrytown, NY.

World renowned speaker, Rabbi YY Jacobson and Mayan Yisroel’s Rabbi Yosef Vigler gave amazing lectures and shiurim throughout the entire weekend, which kept the warmth inside of the hearts of the community.

A Carlebach Friday night davening in Nusach Sefard was followed by a full catered and delicious meal served by Greenwald Catering, along with a “Friday Night Oneg.”

As Shabbos came to an end, you couldn’t end it just like that. Ruli Ezrachi was playing the guitar as Mendy Worch sang the havdalah in a Carlebach style havdalah (both are members of the Shul and musicians).

Later on that night, there was a concert by the Eighth Day band, headlines by Shmuly and Bentzi Marcus, benefiting the My Extended Family, a program for single parents and children of the community.

Opening for Eighth Day was Yossi Cukier, who composed a song Beinoni, which the lyrics were based on teachings of Chassidus. The many children in attendance sang along and danced with the music.

What a weekend it was, and it couldn’t have been done without the coordination of talented singer and community member, Dovid Stein, who spent days and nights organizing this whole weekend. From the hotel to the program to the catering to everything. It was all a success with his incredible coordination.
