I grew up in America not frum but with a great chinuch in aidelkeit. My parents would never allow us to even dream of moving up to a better seat on an airplane or in a theater mitzad aidelkeit.. It also looks pushy and prost to the nit-Yidden in America so it can make a Chilul Hashem. This isn’t the theme you are discussing, but isn’t it a factor as well?

Occupying a vacant seat in first class will never happen (unless it is an upgrade) as the flight attendants have a manifest and know exactly who is sitting where. Oh, and that is Air France first class.
is it a problem to park in a metered space, not pay, and just run in to a store for a minute?
