If we want our children to remain proud living chassidim of the rebbe, we need to show the joys and privilege of living in Dor haShvii and having a connection with the Rebbe. Of absolute pure joy needed to finally bring moshiach, the Rebbe Suggested (in 1988) “try it, and it will be proved”. The youth want joy. They want and aspire to, more than anything else; just. be. happy. All that is needed if for them to be shown that the way of chassidus and Toirah IS a happy way of life. The side of the equation that is almost always ignored in these conversations is the “happens to not be Jewish” partner. From reducing a complex human being to one trait they lack to the Jewish family refusing to acknowledge their existence… And worse… I have seen this “get rid of the ‘shiksa/shaygetz’ at any cost” mentality too many times… So we oppose intermarriage to maintain our unique culture and peoplehood, but when the culture we’re trying to preserve turns a blind eye to cruelty and dehumanization, have we lost the page?
