Every Motzoai Shabbos throughout the winter weeks, the main Shul in Yeshivs Tomchei Temimim in Montreal is filled with the smiling faces of many kinderlech coming to learn Torah with their fathers in the “Avos Ubonim” learning program.
The kol torah emanating from the pure mouths of the kinderlach is a true Nachas! This is a beautiful way for fathers to spend quality time with their children and at the same time listen to them review what they learned at Yeshiva the past week or to explore a new topic together.
This past Motzoei Shabbos, Parshas Mishpotim they celebrated with a grand Melave Malka. In the spirit of Sheves achim gam Yachad, close to 300 fathers and sons gathered together for an evening of chizuk and connection together.
The evening started with the viewing of the weekly “Living Torah” video. In the Sicha this week the Rebbe encourages the role of the Jewish woman by learning from Miriam, and about their indispensible function within the Jewish people as a whole.
Hatalmid Yehuda Ohayon gave over a beautiful Dvar Torah as representative of the Yeshiva Talmidim who join the weekly “Father & Son” learning. He spoke about the two parts of Matan Torah in Parshas Yisro and Parsha Mishpotim as explained in Lekutei Sichos.
Rabbi Yossi Charytan, Principal of Yeshiva Tomche Temimim thanked Rabbi Vaisfiche for arranging the beautiful evening and the general Avos Ubanim program. He went on to give thanks to the Melamdim for their tremendous dedication beyond what most teachers would do. Not only do they teach our boys Torah but they show true care about their overall well being and growth in all aspects of their lives. He went on to share a story about the Rebbetzin and a lesson that we could learn in the way we interact with our children that encourages healthy relationships.
Our guest storyteller Rebbee Hill who came especially from New York, Captured the attention of the overflowing crowd with two stories each with a beautiful lesson about Shmiras ho’einaim (being careful with what we look at), and Emunas Tzadikim.
Thanks to Reb Avremel Zirkind for enhancing the evening with Chassidishe music.
The Melave Malka was catered by Mendy Wilansky who as always did a great job, together with our eighth graders who helped setting up and serving.
A special souvenir was distributed to all the children. Thank you to Mr. David Puterman and Reb Meir Man for helping towards this event.
Special thanks to R’ Shimmi Traurig our Yeshiva administrator for his continual encouragement and dedication in helping the Yeshiva grow and flourish.
