Three years in the making, Chabad’s Eastside Torah Center has moved into its new home in Bellevue, Washington.
“When we sat down to plan out what we would like to see in our new center, we never dreamed that the reality would turn out so beautiful,” noted its director, Shliach Rabbi Mordechai Farkash.
He pointed to the 5 state-of-the-art classrooms for their growing Hebrew school and preschool, a book library, Youth Zone, indoor and outdoor playgrounds, a commercial kitchen with a social hall and, of course, a gracious new sanctuary.
The cost of the project was $4.8 million, including the cost of the land.
There were over 600 men and women at the opening, with a Tu B’Shvat children’s program going on in the youth zone for the hundreds of little ones who attended.
There was a lot of emotion in the room, during the dedication ceremony, with donors sharing their congratulations and excitement about this new home for the large, diverse hi-tech Jewish community on the east side of Seattle.
“Baruch Hashem, we are very blessed to have this new location, the community is full of ideas on how to continue making this center even more of a hub for Jewish life than ever,” Rabbi Farkash added.
Mrs. Rochi Farkash noted their many programs include classes, lecture series, Shabbos dinners, sisterhood events, CTeen events, young adult events, a full preschool and holiday programs.
“From here, the Bellevue community can only grow stronger,” she said.
