The Jewish Recovery Center in Boca Raton, Florida, will be hosting its third annual Weekend Retreat and Shabbaton on February 7-9, 2014 at the Boca Raton Marriott.
The retreat offers Jews in recovery an opportunity to connect with other each other in fellowship and camaraderie.
An lineup of world-renowned speakers and lecturers highlights a weekend filled with workshops, meditation groups, recovery meetings, family support groups, and Jewish Spirituality classes. Inspirational speakers include Rabbi Abraham Twerski, MD, Rabbi Shais Taub, Rabbi Dov Greenberg, Rabbi Meir Kessler and Rabbi Yisroel Pinson.
“The Jewish Recovery Center was founded to address addiction in the context of Judaism,” says Rabbi Kessler, founder and executive director of the Jewish Recovery Center.
“Jews in particular often struggle with the stigma long associated with substance abuse. Addiction is a disease and recovery is something that should be celebrated. We are thrilled to be able to offer a platform for continued encouragement and mutual support. Currently, we are finalizing plans for the third annual event, which has seen an increase in interest and attendance since its inception.”
Sid Goodman, executive director for Caron Renaissance, sponsor for the third consecutive year, said: “The Jewish community faces unique challenges in recovery, and we value spiritual healing as part of the overall recovery process. Retreats such as this one are such a critical component to continued sobriety by offering the Jewish community an opportunity to connect in an uplifting environment.”
Cost for the retreat weekend are $299 per person, which includes activities and all meals. Special hotel accommodations are available at the Boca Raton Marriott for Friday, February 7th and Saturday, February 8th. at a rate of $159 a night.

Can an outsider pay and come hear the speakers?
Yes, Yes,Yes You Da Best!!!!! No doubt!!!
These things are so important. For ages I struggled with addiction. By the grace of my higher power I was able to talk to someone and now go to meetings daily! If you feel you have a problem with any substance please talk to someone about it and don’t keep it in any longer! Hashem will surely send you along the right path.
this is the best thing for our society today!! Kol Hakavod Meir and thank you for all the wonderful work you do to help people in hard situations with proper Jewish Chassidic guidance!
Big fan! Ur the best !!
To the wife, there is help for you. There are lots of Al-anon meetings.
Go to an AA meeting if you have an issue. (its free and should cost 1000 a meeting its that effective).
BS”D # 2 we feel your pain, keep writing to the Rebbe-Igros and/or Ohel whichever is your persuasion and the Rebbe will surely come to your aid
I think it’s so important to bring this issue to the open. A sick person can only choose recovery if they want to. There’s nothing anyone can do to help them. I have so much pain from being in this horrible situation. Does anyone have a therapist that they suggest for the Rockland County, NY area?
I pray that my husband does get well.
No one wants to comment because no one wants to talk about this. There is still a huge stigma in the frum community. I’m not saying you have to walk around introducing yourself, “Hi, I’m Mendel, I’m an alcoholic.” But let’s talk about this.
