As the heated discussions over the controversial “Call of the Shofar” programs begin to wind-down, a video parody has been released in the form of a puppet show.
Yuki Shimmelman, host of the Yuppets show, interviews Ben Oyveiski, founder and director of the therapy group “The Tent of Avraham” and finds it difficult to get clear answers.
Criticism against the “Shofar” and its founder Simcha Frischling said the program is a cult that uses mind-control techniques and is influenced by idolatrous religions.
“My intention is never to insult, just to satirize and play with modern conventions in the frum world,” explained Yossi Berktin, creator of Yuppets who is currently recording a new children’s album of Shabbos songs.
Although the puppet show adopts the critical approach to the therapy program, Berktin says his “true opinion of the Call of the Shofar is that it may be good for some and not for others. Consult your Rav and Mashpiah.”
Berktin is a graduate of the Rabbinical College of America, York University Psychology Program and is currently completing his Master’s Degree in Education. He lives on Toronto, Ontario.
Yes the rebbe encouraged Victor Frankel,
But the rebbe also once quoted a “Torah” from Sigmund Freud, “The mind comprehends what the heart cannot endure”
Job well done, and very funny.

You’re reading way too much into what you reference, which is only used to satirically point out that the guru is an an un-trained, un-licensed, self-appointed, whacked-out therapist masquerading as an “educator.”
nice! five stars! end cults! moshiach now!
The interviewer seemed to convey that a knowledge of Sigmund Freud’s theories and methodology is essential for the success of any therapist. Now, I don’t want to negate every theory proposed by Freud, but at the same time I would be almost as concerned if COTS was employing some of the methods suggested by Freud as I am that they are using methods rooted in AZ. Some of his ideas are totally antithetical to Torah. The Rebbe himself encouraged Victor Frankl to develop logotherapy, a theory in psychology which rivals Freud’s, and suggests that man is driven primarily by a… Read more »
Will there be a second part of this stuff??? its really funny
keep up the great work!!!!!!!!
Wonderfully done! Painful subject…good to laugh. Continued success.
Great comment, very funny (but not for the people that paid 750.00)
SAY WHAT!!!!
You went to Avoda Zara because you feel that the mashpiem in CH weren’t able to fill a void in your life!!!!
Going to Avoda Zara is AGAINST halacha.
You could have gone to a card reader for $5 if you wanted to get advise.
You got suckered into paying $750….
This is a great video showing the brainwashing they made you believe..
His comment is almost as funny as the video lol
Awesome work! Really funny and clever. Keep em coming!!!
Call of the shofer is NOT a cult. This guy has obviously never been to COTS
Hilarious!
You are obviously coming from a place of fear. Your negative judgments are a result of old patterns of thought. You need to become an individual. Release your inner potential and experience true joy. Spend 3 days with me, blindfolded, screaming at your parents, your wife, your rabbi, expressing your deepest fantasies locked down with other sleep deprived men as you stare lovingly into each others eyes, hands on hearts, legs locked together, the drone of hypnotic music in the background will release your inner potential so that YOU CAN TRULY LIVE LIKE AN ENLIGHTENED ONE!
Keep them coming
This is more than just satire. It is a way to revive a dead story and pit one Jew against another Jew. Hopefully, Yossi has researched this issue thoroughly. Otherwise, it will just create it will propagate more sinas chinam between Jews. But hey, I guess one Jew’s satire is another Jew’s propaganda. Well, boys and girls, the last statement is what is called sarcasm.
I went to the tent of Abraham. And It change my life forever.
Kudos…very funny.
Dont quit your day job
double satire!
😛
This is just what we needed. It diffuses the seriousness and awkwardness of the whole debate.
Now we can all move on with our lives.
Great job!
We laughed, loved and learned.
Well done!!!!
Rabbi B I love you man you are so awesome!!
seriously?
this isn’t a joking matter. stop making light of what by is happening here.
Very funny and right on target
This hilarious video is the DEFINITION of satire.
Great job! Loved it!
Thanks for a good laugh!
And I quote: Satire –
the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people’s vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.
Its a perfect caricature of the arguments.
its funny but I bet the guys that made this have not been to COTS, I went to COTS and it was great for me and far from a cult or anything like it. Let the leaders create assistance to the youth today from Chassidus and then we wont need COTS but for now they shouldn’t knock it if it has helped thousands of frum people!
change of topic is waaaaay overdue. we need some time away, please.
very creative!!! Berktin is amazing.
you sure got it alright!!
Thanks for posting this and whoever put this together good on ya!! I can’t believe there are still some that argue whether it is or isn’t treif. A safik is enough of a reason to walk away..no run away and as fast you can run!!
this isn’t satire. it’s the argument verbatim. which makes it not funny. could we get some real humor here?
Yossi Berktin (Rabbi B) will be a household name very soon!
Great job Yossi!
Perfectly describes COTS
yasher koach
Not bad, I enjoyed it and now I know what cots is all about!!
This video is great! You rock Rabbi B!
Funniest thing ever. Was on the floor. Dala lama with a beard

Haha was sooo funny. This guy is the next big thing in entettainment.
Yos! That was awesome.
You hit the nail on the head! Love how he says everything is ‘not true’ but doesn’t explain. Just ‘not true.’ Hilarious!
Couldn’t stop laughing!
LOVED IT. GOOD JOB!!
I enjoyed it!
