The 24 of Teves is the yartzeit of Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi (1745-1812), founder of Chabad Chassidism. Also known as the “Alter Rebbe,” “the Rav,” he authored the Tanya, a classic text of the chassidic tradition, and Shulchan Aruch HaRav, a code of Jewish law.
The farbrengen took place at Bais Menachem Mendel in Flatbush, NY, and was led by Rabbi Manis Friedman, a world-renowned author, lecturer and philosopher; and co-founder of Bais Chana Institute of Jewish Studies in Minnesota.

If I may weigh in: R’ Simon Jacobson beats them all. As a choizer and maniyach of the highest order, who captures the Rebbe’s sichos like no other, he stands ap[art in his understanding of Chassidus and human nature. Just listen to his online daily Ayin Beis shiurim and weekly classes. If R’ Manis and R’ YY are like “apples and oranges,” R’ Simon is like wine and oil.

I have nothing against YYJ, but you are comparing apples and oranges. YYJ tells great stories, makes fantastic speeches, inspires with his vigor, etc.
Reb Manis just exudes chassidishkite and Fred you in to his eidelkite. It’s almost like it doesn’t matter what he says, you just want to be more eidel after watching him. And the fact that his toichen is profound and sime at the same time is a bonus.
