Today, 20 Teves, marks the yartzeit of the Rambam (1135 – 1204), the man who transformed the landscape of Judaism.
World renowned teacher, Rabbi YY Jacobson, delivered this history lecture on the life and times of the Rabmam in the Mayan Yisroel shul in Flatbush.
The lecture explores the turbulent and fascinating life of Maimonides and explains why the Rebbe called on the Jewish people to study Rambam each day.
The description of the revolutionary character of the Mishneh Torah, as well as the Rambam’s unbelievable schedule, I was familiar with. But the history of his times and what was going on with the Muslims then, was new to me and I think really relevant for every Sefardi to know.
This was sooo interesting, the explanation re the Moslems was very good. Rabbi, I watched your recording from six am until seven, I still didn’t see all of it. I will go back later to watch the rest. Thanks again.
thanks 🙂
