Last week, on the second night of Chanukah, In The Heights hosted an unforgettable Chanukah Party for post-seminary girls of Crown Heights. Over 100 girls gathered at Beis Levi Yitzchok on the second night of Chanukah in honor of Shayna Bracha Borevitz‘s second Yahrtzeit.
The night began with a cookie decorating demo by Sima Silverstein from Simas’ Creative Confections. The girls had an exceptional time socializing while decorating beautiful cookies.
Following the cookie decorating, Rabbi Shimmy Weinbaum of Tzivos Hashem, gave an inspiring lecture on the power of light- about the Chanukah candles and how to rise above the hardships during Galus.
The event concluded with a special slideshow on Shayna Bracha’s childhood and lifestyle. Her sister, Mushky Kaplan – from the Philippines, and classmate, Sara’le Simpson, brought tears to the crowd with the countless stories they shared about Shayna.
After the event girls headed out to Times Square to give out donuts, Menorahs and to spread the light of Chanukah. Mivtzoim was one of the most beloved mitzvos to Shayna, and many girls happily joined in her honor!
