The biggest tourist attraction in Manaus, The Amazon Theater, was the host of a public Menorah lighting ceremony on the second night of Chanukah.
People were very excited as this was the first time that such an event was made in such an iconic location.
Participants were entertained with music from Choni Milecki’s recordings, that brought them to an upbeat dance.
Delicious homemade doughnuts were distributed along with Chanukah gelt to all those in attendance. Yellow balloons were sent in the air as each person made a decision of a new light, mitzvah they would do in honor of Chanukah. Special t-shirt were distributed with the event logo and “I was there” written in Portuguese.
The Menorah was lit by Rabbi Arieh Raichman and the event was organized by Beit Chabad Manaus.

Great to see a story about one the Rebbe’s dedicated soldiers, doing great work in a place so far away from the larger communities in Brazel.. mamash in the middle of the amazon!
