In honor of the upcoming annual Kinus Hashluchim, Israeli singing sensation Gad Elbaz has joined forces with noted filmmaker Danny Finkelman in a moving clip that depicts the Jewish soul’s longing for its Creator.
Elbaz’s haunting rendition of the Lubavitcher’s Rebbe Tzama Lecha Nafishi serves as the catalyst for a young Jewish man to seek out his roots as he listens to the timeless song while riding the New York City subway. Inspired by the music that so clearly pierces his soul, the young man pays a visit to both the Lubavitch World Headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway, where he pours out his heart in prayer to the One Above.
Sponsored by Cafe Rimon, a gourmet eatery in Crown Heights, Tzama Lecha Nafshi is a Sparks Next Production, produced by Danny Finkelman with cinematography by Mauricio Arenas.
Very inspiring and I was tearing up.
i hope Gad continues to use his unique talents to share more hassidic classics such as he did here! this is very unique from what ive seen by artists of this caliber and popularity!
job well done indeed!
Thank you so much for putting your time and effort in to the making of this beautiful rendition of Tzama Lecha Nafshi.
May if be the first of many!
I abselutely love it!!!!!
Moving
number 11 ,20, 35 your comments are not the opinion of our great Rebbe who loved every jew and every jew was like his only child and you comments make divisions not respect for our great Rebbe i agree with 38 and 48
I personally know some non-lubavitch people who listen to gad elbaz and maybe they’ll be inspired by this video that gad has respect for the rebbe and the’ll learn from that to respect everyone, even people who are not ashkanaz , sphardic, etc…
it was inspiring and beutiful
Well done !
Mr Elbaz is of sephardic background and his father became observant when Gad was very young. They are religious and reach out to many non-observant Israelis through their music.Obviously there was something in the Rebbe that really touched Gad and moved him enough to do this video and song.he doesn’t have to because he’s very popular already.I am #14 and maybe I was too harsh but knowing his background, I was very upset by the negativity. For someone of his background to connect with the Rebbe only shows you what the rebbe means-to people like him and yes, to people like me… Read more »
Dani is so talented to put it all together!!! bought me tears to my eyes and closer feeling to the Rebbe!!!!
# 11 I know Gad personally and he has the outmost respect for the Rebbe and Lubavitch. Instead of trying to fing “disrespect” in the video, how about seeing the message that he is sending which is that the Rebbe and Chabad reach out to every Jew. this no more disrespectful then the Rebbe pictures you see everywhere.
shlomo chaim in atsilus with gad elbaz
I love Gad elbaz hes my fav!!
go shlomo chaim!!!!!!!!! check out the beard (at 2:43)
Much hotzlocha to Cafe Rimon
and to the song !!!!
try viewing this as another example of the Rebbe’s gadlus … his hashpo’o has reached an Israeli singer who doesnt normally produce nigunim. how many more unobservant unaffiliated yidden are going to hear this niggun and maybe get curious and google the Rebbe because of this new soundtrack?
and what is a greater respect shown toward the Rebbe 770 and the Ohel than this?
(PS I doubt Elbaz will see your letter.)
Loved this video, has all the right ingredients, Go Gad Elbaz, always enjoy your amazing voice
Gads voice is special! Ty!
NO offense people but the heart of a sefardi is always close to hashem regardless of externalities….The Rebbe would have loved this … to #11, I know your type….
Forget the naysayers and embrace the love and emotion…
My heart is Sefardi right now….beautiful….haunting…
Wow!!!
There is just nothing in the world like the sensation before the ohel, simply “lifnai velifnim”….
I have to agree with number 11. while the video is beautiful and shows how beautiful the Rebbe is. I felt it was also inappropriate because of the medium. I also felt very uncomfortable when they had the scenes of the ohel. I think the reason is because I know this is being done for promotional purposes of someones career. it’s a music video, not a JEM video, and that just makes something as holy as the ohel, seem cheap.
please … no need to bash. we all entitled to our opinions
wow amazing
I have to say again stop taking these comments seriously. You can’t get respect from the person behind the keyboards. You don’t know them, and plus some are just trolls. Peace.
Thanks for the best cafe in town for sponsoring this beautiful clip !!
If you do not agree with an opinion shared and feel it must be contradicted, then do so in a proper respectful fashion and back up your oposition. If you cannot do that, then please don’t comment.
Instead of attacking the person who wrote the comment, discuss the content of it, and again, in a respectful way.
Just because your identity is unknown doesn’t mean you can be rude.
woww…. strong words… where is your ahavas yisroel? no. 11 and 13 are expressing their opinion in a respectful way. you may not agree, but dont’ get nasty, calling them names. It only reflects not good on you. Next time you dont agree with a comment, just disagree respectfully, and you will get a lot more respect coming your way.
when a tzadik leaves this world he is felt more in this world than in the next after his pasing
yasha co ach!!
So many to do tshuvah. Yes, they would come here without a yarmalke or women in pants, and they would take in the Rebbe’s teachings and they would change their behavior by doing what the Rebbe wanted, living a life of Torah and Mitzvos.
This is so nice, I was just whatching him live tonight in concert in Johannesburg.
its sad that someone post something like that! its a shame!
thank you gad, may we all grow in yidishkait and bring moshiach
Good going!!!!kudos to you for sponsoring it and i hope you ignore the ignorant ones who comment.
Gad Elbaz has the neshama of a true chassid, all the way. Beautiful.
Very moving video and recording. Gad just finished an amazing concert with Benny Friedman in Johannesburg, South Africa this evening.

pretty amazing you completely missed the boat on the Rebbes teachings and outlook on yiddishkeit.
The Rebbe did allow photographers and videographers to record things… I think it is a delicate decision. What is appropriate and who makes that determination (other than the Rebbe himself!)
But, if even a handful of our kids see this video and end up humming a niggun instead of a goyish or more modern tune, I will be very glad and believe that the Rebbe would be pleased. He did not do anything inappropriate or disrespectful in this video. It was not light-hearted.
this is a gorgeous song
is that shlomo chiem????? at 2:44
one of the most amazing people
he really inspires me
you’re right, you should go speak to someone, do you have a mashpia perhaps?
that was AWEsome
No, #11 you do not wish “all the best” except to spread more negativity. For those who believe the Rebbe should remain apart from the people, all sorts of people, then you really never understood him to begin with.People from all sorts of backgrounds were able to connect with the Rebbe and to negate that with your comments, you really never “got it”. Gad got it and that’s why he can convey the Rebbe’s love through music and yes, a video.
Wow,, I have to admit my first thoughts were that I agree with poster 11. But then, I had to walk away from the video for something,, and all I heard was the “hartz” Gad, our Rebbe was a Rebbe for every jew,, and you really portrayed that. Thank you for opening my mind.
Your personal issues should remain with you! This was a very inspiring video that obviously was felt by many people.Your negativity is repulsive and does not belong here.Who are YOU to decide what is appropriate and what is holy???You?The authority???? wow!
I agree with #11 to some extent but this production shows how the Rebbe “came down” and influenced everyone to want to reconnect with Hashem on their level…mixed feelings about this video,,,
Stop making problems where there aren’t any. This video was beautiful and for you to add negativity to a most heartwarming post is not very nice. Perhaps we should focus on adding in a positive way to the already negative world.
Gad, you’re are really talented and the you’re song was beautiful. However there is a higher respect and awe that is supposed to be shown towards the Rebbe, the ohel and 770. A music video performed by the most religious Jew isn’t appropriate for such holiness and doesn’t meet the standard required. (Others before you may have done the same but doesn’t justify it). If you wish to discuss this more, I am more then willing to hear you’re response, please reply to this particular comment that you would like to discuss this (perhaps we can exchange email accounts). Amazingly beautiful !!
He sings it in a true heartfelt manner and does justice to the niggun. The Rebbe’s voice at the end is haunting and heartbreaking.
wow beautifully done!
so moving, so powerful. big lump in my throat.
The rebbe lives
Gad Elbaz has soul. Beautiful.
I’ve heard so many versions over the years but for some reason this one just moved me to tears. And i don’t move easily.
