The Ten Yad Hachnosos Kallah Chinese Auction, one of the most exclusive frum charity events in Brooklyn, is promising to be an exceptional “night out” for women on Sunday, October 20.
There will of course be world-class auction prizes and an all-new Prize Expo Boutique showcasing some of the most luxurious items offered in the auction.
Most anticipated perhaps is “The Mechutanim,” a hilarious live musical performance with professional actresses and singers directed by Miriam Handler of the Nshei Tzedakah Players.
“In an all new production, this all-star cast will dazzle you with their phenomenal range, marrying side-splitting comedy with thought-provoking and heartwarming lessons for life,” organizers said.
Following in the footsteps of “The Shidduch,” last year’s entertaining Ten Yad production, The Mechutanim tells the heartwarming story of an unlikely shidduch in which a precarious road-map to disaster is transformed into an unexpected recipe for joy.
It will feature the singing and theatrical talents of Chava Rosenbaum and the supremely funny Leah Foster. The show begins at 8:45 pm.
This gala event will be held on Sunday, October 20, at the beautiful Razag Ballroom at 739 East New York (between Albany & Troy Aves.) in Crown Heights. The auction viewing, Prize Expo Boutique, bidding, and light buffet will take place from 3:00-8:45pm; with the program and auction drawing beginning at 9:30pm.
Convenient bus service will be offered to and from Boro Park and Flatbush (call 718-756-1482 for bus info). Valet parking will also be provided. For more information or to order tickets in advance, call 718-756-1482 or log on to www.TENYAD.org.
The “Grand Split” prize at this year’s auction is a combination Grand Prize and Split the Pot, and is expected to grow from last year’s “winner takes half” pot of $175,000 to an unprecedented cash prize (check TENYAD.org for updates).
It joins the close to 100 exclusive prizes ranging from a $12,000 gift certificate for magnificent jewelry to furniture, top-name bone china table settings, sterling silver collections, custom sheitels, vacations, appliances, and much more.
Ten Yad Hachnosas Kallah has been providing assistance to needy kallahs for close to 30 years, helping orphans and young brides in dire circumstances with the overwhelming expenses of a Jewish marriage and setting up a new home.
The proceeds of the auction are used exclusively to provide the basics of a Jewish home, to help with many details of the wedding, and to upgrade and maintain its beautiful wedding gown gmach.
Ten Yad is known for the dignity with which it helps kallahs, giving inconspicuously and graciously, so that no one, not the kallah nor her friends, have any idea that the kallah is a recipient of tzedakah. Contributors have the opportunity not only to fulfill the mitzvah of hachnosas kallah, but to do it b’hiddur, by giving matan b’seter (giving charity “in secret”). Ten Yad’s commitment is to do whatever it can to insure that kallahs go to their chuppahs with peace of mind and joy.
Charity is the most important mitzvah in the Torah and its highest expression is dowering a Jewish bride. Anyone who marries off orphans (as many of Ten Yad’s kallahs are, r”l), which is achieved by contributing to the Ten Yad Auction, is considered as giving tzedakah every day of his life.
In the merit of all who contribute to the mitzvah of hachnosos kallah, may we all experience the ultimate rejoicing in the Redemption as expressed in Yirmeyahu 22:10-11: “There will be heard…in the cities of Yehudah and the outskirts of Yerushalayim…the voice of happiness and the voice of rejoicing…the voice of a chosson and the voice of a kallah.”
