Even before winning office, Ken Thompson has already achieved one thing: Uniting both factions of the Satmar chassidic community in Brooklyn.
The Democrat candidate for Kings County District Attorney was endorsed by both the Aaroni and Zalmani groups, after both backed the incumbent Charles Hynes in the Democratic primary election.
They are both now voicing strong support for Thompson, following his overwhelming victory in the Democratic primary and Hynes staying in the race switching over as candidate of the Republicans and independents.
“We are proud to stand with Democrats across Brooklyn in supporting Ken Thompson as our District Attorney. Ken will be a champion of justice and keep Brooklyn streets and neighborhoods safe,” said Abe Deutsch of the Zalmani Satmar community.
Moishe Indig of the Aaroni Satmar community said: “It’s time to unite behind our next District Attorney so that we can have a seamless transition that will keep the people of Brooklyn safe. We look forward to working with Ken Thompson in the weeks and months ahead as he brings a new vision to our criminal justice system.”
The Thompson Campaign said the candidate also won the backing of “Orthodox leaders representing thousands of voters in Borough Park, Crown Heights, Flatbush and Williamsburg.”
Chanina Sperlin speaking on behalf of the Crown Heights Political Action Committee (PAC) expressed support as well. “We look forward to Ken’s fresh approach to the DA’s office, with his focus on keeping Brooklyn safe, while protecting the rights of all its citizens,” he said.
In an historic upset, Ken Thompson was elected the Democratic nominee for Brooklyn District Attorney on September 10th, becoming the first African American and the first candidate to unseat an incumbent Brooklyn D.A. since 1911.
“I am deeply honored to have the overwhelming support of Brooklyn’s Orthodox Jewish communities,” Thompson said. “I plan to work together with every community to ensure our neighborhoods are safer and stronger. We are united to restore the principles of justice and integrity in the District Attorney’s office.”
In the past week, Thompson was backed by U.S. Senator Charles Schumer, Mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio, NYC Comptroller nominee Scott Stringer, Borough President Marty Markowitz, Councilwoman and Public Advocate candidate Letitia James, Assemblymembers Dov Hikind, Walter Mosley, Joe Lentol, Karim Camara, and Councilmembers Diana Reyna and Darlene Mealy.
Thompson has also earned the support of all four members of the Brooklyn congressional delegation – Reps. Jerrold Nadler, Yvette Clarke, Hakeem Jeffries and Nydia Velazquez.
Where did he said that #8? Please gives us a source.
how jews hate each other so much that they will vote for someone else who says openly he is running to put jews in jail and let the blacks out on the streets
Hynes is making a big fool out of himself by trying to run again. He is going to lose by thousands of votes
Levi Pinson!!!!
Vote for who you want as D.A. #4. Is that flyer online?
Just in his flyer alone it mentions about not letting Jews get away with crimes etc, it mentions jewish organizations/communities 3 or 4 times just in a little flyer!
It’s apparent what he wants and has an agenda against Jews and their money under the floorboards..
#1 one fact is clear Hynes needs to go for the dozens of reasons listed here and on other websites in the past. I don’t think Thompson has the ego or viciousness to him that Hynes build up over the years. On top of that he’s shown a willingness to meet the regular man on the street unlike Hynes.
Lastly “I love it how we all go supporting him and in a few months we will want to have protests against him for the stuff he did”
When and if it comes to that we will cross the bridge.
Is that a fact or an opinion?
I love it how we all go supporting him and in a few months we will want to have protests against him for the stuff he did…
