Dearest Friends,
My name is Mendy Scheiner and my parents are Shluchim in Boulder, Colorado. As I am sure most of you have heard by now, a devastating flood has overcome a large part of the Boulder community and wiped out the city’s infrastructure.
In large part, an extensive amount of that damage directly affected the Jewish community of Boulder. This flood has left Chabad of Boulder in ruins and in desperate need of help from it’s fellow community abroad. So, I am reaching out to you in hopes that we can raise the funds necessary in order to restore, rebuild, and revive. I am confident that, when joined together, we can do anything.
All three centers which service the local area, Chabad of Boulder County, Chabad of CU, and Chabad of Longmont have incurred devastating damage.
But, as it is in true Chabad fashion.. the shul must go on!
Even though flood damage forced many local synagogues to close their doors on Yom Tov, all three Chabad centers managed to miraculously hold Yom Kippur services!
Here is a current update which was sent out to the local community today: We are fielding calls of people needing a hot meal, volunteers and helping people get ready for Sukkos. We have considerable damage, three floors and walls are totally water damaged and will need to be ripped out, we still have water in our crawl space, it is still raining outside and we are trying to get life back together. We will need to replace our Sukkah, Schach etc as well as allot of mattresses which are water logged. We bring in around 100 Esrogim sets and now need to replace aravos as they were never delivered in time by UPS.
The rain has come back, and is hindering rescue efforts, and creating new damage, please pray for our community.
I spoke to my parents earlier today, and they wanted me to emphasize how grateful they are for the outpouring love that has come from family and friends of the Jewish community.
We can all be of help!
Chabad of Boulder has spent thousands of dollars rebuilding and continuing to provide warm meals, holiday services, and relief support to the local Jewish homes which have been damaged.
If the entire Chabad community could help in any way possible to continue our relief efforts, it would be of tremendous help and an extraordinary mitzvah.
100% of your donations will go to flood recovery.
We are approaching Sukkos, a truly joyful Yom Tov. Every bit of help would provide for a more blessed and beautiful Yom Tov celebration.
Every little bit of love that you can give will get us closer and closer. You can contribute and be a part of this great Mitzvah by clicking on the link chabadofboulder.com/donate.
The Boulder Jewish Community thanks you for your generosity!
I hope that the chabad will soon flourish again what happen to sefarin and siddurim etc.
