A ‘chodorom’ indeed.
The Rebbe’s request that there be a ‘happening’ on the 15th of Elul was fulfilled to the full extent at the Central Tomchei Temimim Yeshiva in Kfar Chabad, Israel.
On this day in 1897 the 5th Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Sholom DovBer Schneersohn (“Rashab”) founded the Yeshiva “Tomchei Temimim Lubavitch,” integrating the “revealed” part of Torah (Talmud and Halachah) with the esoteric Chassidic teachings in a formal study program.
Once, when the Rebbe returned to the Yeshiva at Lubavitch Headquarters – 770 Eastern Parkway on the 15th of Elul, he commented that he expected to find a “chodorom.”
The Rebbe said he was sure that when he return from the Ohel, he will find that “770 goes chodorom (a revolution etc.),” not from point of contention, but from the greatness of the joy of this day with dancing and happiness.
The bochurim in Kfar Chabad this week began marking that auspicious day with a special shiur in the Rebbe’s Reshimos diaries with Rabbi Eli Wolf, a chassidic author and writer.
They continued with joyous dancing to the music of chassidic nigunim when one of the loud speakers hanging on the wall caught fire and filled the ‘zal’ learning hall with smoke.
The bochurim were quick to respond before the fire grew too large. The building’s electricity was shut and water was thrown at the faulty speaker until the firefighters arrived.
No one was hurt and bochurim vowed to spend the next day immersed in learning, as appropriate.
that is realy a chodorom
Never through water on an electrical fire – it can make things worse, as water conducts electricity. What was probably used was a fire extinguisher
yeah like when they founded the Yeshiva “Tomchei Temimim Lubavitch,”
the fire trucks look like there are from waaaaay baack
