Mikvah Yisroel, the Mikvah located near the Rebbe’s Ohel in Queens, has recently undergone extensive renovations.
Opened just one year after Gimmel Tammuz, the Mikvah has been serving visitors to the Ohel for the past eighteen years, available for the hundreds who visit the Ohel on a daily basis, and the thousands who visit on various dates throughout the year.
The property was originally purchased by a committee of Shluchim, and Mikvah Yisroel was built with the help of the worldwide Duchman family and many others.
The Shluchim Office, responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the Mikvah, recently undertook a full renovation of Mikvah Yisroel, including the proper installation and setup required for the halachic collection of fresh rainwater to refill the Mikvah bor. The Mikvah has been closed for the past month while the renovations are being done, and is expected to reopen in the next few days.
The renovations, totaling more than $100,000, were sponsored by Eli and Abraham Chetrit, a father and son building team.
Rabbi Chaim Boruch Halberstam, a known expert in the building of Mikvaos, volunteered his time and energy to ensure the rainwater bor was properly fashioned and installed, as well as supervised the construction of the conduits to channel it into the Mikvah itself.
The construction of the rainwater bor was generously sponsored by the Raitport family.
The Shluchim Office thanked Rabbi Aba Refson of Ohel Chabad Lubavitch, who has been a partner in all their efforts, as well as the Mochkin family of Australia, the Sued family of Buenos Aires, and Shlomo Drimmer and Meir Prager for all their efforts.
Sponsorships are still needed and welcome, to sponsor contact the Shluchim Office or donate at Shluchim.org/pay.
