Is the Royal Baby Jewish?

After much anticipation, the Duchess of Cambridge Catherine gave birth. The Royal bundle named George Alexander Louis is a future King — and perhaps a real Jewish Prince.

By Rabbi Simcha Weinstein, Algemeiner

Mazel Tov! After much anticipation, at 4:24 p.m. in London on July 22, the Duchess of Cambridge Catherine gave birth. The Royal bundle is an 8lbs. 6oz. son, future King — and perhaps a real Jewish Prince.

For those of you who haven't heard, according to lawyer Alan Dershowitz, Kate's mother, Carol, is the daughter of Ronald and Dorothy Goldsmith (whose parents, he claims, were also Jews). The Jewish line may thicken with hubby Wills.

It's been speculated that the late Princess Diana's mother, Frances Shand Kydd, was born a Rothschild. If that weren't enough, the London Daily Mail reported that Diana is actually the biological daughter of Sir James Goldschmidt, also a Jew.

Royal ancestry-mavens consider all this hearsay, but between William and Kate, chances are some Jewish blood runs through the bluish.

In fact, the new heir was born in a "Jewish" wing of St. Mary's hospital. A Sephardic Jew, Frank Charles Lindo, paid for the wing in 1937! He must be shepping some naches!

From the day it was announced that the royal couple was expecting, reporters, photographers, and people on the street went wild! How ironic, I thought. In an atmosphere of zero or low population growth, where having more than 1.5 (I'm not a statistician) children are often met with frowns from those who count carbon footprints, this arrival was met with a fervor rivaling the coming of the Messiah.

True, George Alexander Louis will insure the family business continues for at least the next few generations and, according to Jewish Law, this is critical. In Jewish tradition, we have tremendous respect for government and authority.

In the Talmud, Rabbi Chanina teaches: "Pray for the security of the government, for were it not for the fear of its authority, a man would swallow his neighbor alive." As a child growing up in England, I can still recall special blessings for the royal family, for to have the utmost respect for royalty allows one to recognize the ultimate kingship in this world.

And the people are feeling it. One man who waited outside St. Mary's hospital for 12 days, said: "We've got a lovely married couple and baby will make three — and they will be a family."

King Solomon, who was called "the wisest of all men" for a reason, used the analogy of a threefold cord: "Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." He reminds us that a one-strand cord is weak by itself, a two-strand cord is stronger, and a three-strand rope is stronger than either. Children, create a threefold cord.

True, unlike most newlyweds today, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge don't have to worry about finances, debts, child care, or university. Ever since Kate, who stems from the tiny village of Bucklebury, became the new fairy tale Duchess, she's become the "IT" girl of the century, and she's a "hit." Modern, educated, and hands-on, everything about her becomes "trendy." So, let's watch the birth rate!

The national and international mood is soaring at this mind-blowing and mind-changing event and I can hope that the royal blessed event will make having children a "hit" once again.

Each and every child born has the power to replenishment spirit, soul, and humanity. Each and every child is a King.

Not Jewish
No, Princess Catherine is not Jewish; her ancestry in the female line is traceable back at least 400 years, and there is not a single Jew in the line. It ends back in Yorkshire, at a time when there were no Jews there. To claim otherwise is just nonsense.

And no, Frances Shand Kydd was not Jewish either. She was not born a Rothschild but a Roche, 100% a goya. And of course there's no basis for the ludicrous and slanderous allegation of an affair with a Jew. Not that it would matter, anyway.

Even if it were true...
I don't see the point in celebrating the marriage of a Jew to a shaigetz R"L

Massiah is born on Tisha B'AV (9th of month of AV)
He was born on 8th of AV at 4:24pm . Unless that is fabricated then he is not a messiah.

even if diana's mother was born a rothschild that does not make her jewish

the name "rothschild" comes through the male line
judaism on the other hand comes through the female line

and quite a few of the rothschilds married non-jews

Not Jewish
The basis for Dershowitz's speculation are the jewish names: goldsmith and myers, this may be true =, however after a little research on the maternal side, there are no more jewish names-
Here is a list the maternal line:
Kate Middleton, Carole Goldsmith, Dorothy Harrison, Elizabeth Mary Temple, Elizabeth Myers, Ann Swailes, Sarah Peacock, Ann Atkinson, Elizabeth Douglas, Ann Proud, Elizabeth Dunn
Not very jewish.....

People, It's 2013!
First of all,
The theory of Kate coming from Jewish descent is not an opinion from 'Alan Dershowitz' alone, but also from numerous writers in the biggest newspapers in the country, (N.Y. Times, N.Y. Post) plus people featuring on the LARGEST BROADCASTER IN THE WORLD: "BBC", who are suggesting the same thing?

The same and more goes to comment #5 for bashing the theory. You sound like your a prophet: "There is not a single Jew in the Line". There is no true way of knowing. Kate's parents and many others have '' their children, and they firmly believe that that is what forges their faith. Although the name "Goldsmith" happens to sound Jewish, thus the speculation.

#5: Its 2013, do the research, then express opinions, (politely, of course)
C'mon, make it sound reliable!

Way too serious!!
The light and fluffy nature of this article has been totally lost on those who are trying to prove their knowledge of yichus, world events, or historical relevance.

Don't you have ... like ... lives?!?!? (or jobs?)

I dont know you talk to much
I live in England, and have royal blood, she is Jewish that make the baby Jewish.
All the royal family in England are circumcised.
And that's that.
(7/25/2013 10:22:31 PM)
Let me get this straight. The argument for Jewishness is: the matriarch had a German last name, therefore her descendants are Jewish.

Were I live, it costs $30 to legally change your surname. Oh, and yes, that $30 will buy you any German name you want including Goldstein, Goldberg and Rothchild.
(7/25/2013 10:25:15 PM)
Tu B'av
that's when he was born. and it's historically a HAPPY DAY for Jews. Whether the royal baby is a Jew or not, Let's hope he, his parents and great-gramma the queen, start being nice to the Jews! It will be to their benifit 'cos moshiach is comimg very soon.

really funny
this article was hysterical, but the comments are a laugh riot
(7/29/2013 12:17:38 AM)
Normally I don't read Royalty gossip but...
I would be happy to have $100 for every ridiculous article about this Royal family which I choose to ignore. There are many millions of anti-semites who have been "proving" all along that the royal familywas infested with Jews and they & the Rothschilds run the world banks and are the "New World Order". The first (male) Rothschild was Amschel, a religious Jew but in all generations of his sons and daughters, they intermarried with gentiles.
so those actually named Rothschild today are almost if not at all Jewish.

What I cannot understand is why this article was posted by Chabad.

IF it was true the future King would have to give 10%-20% of his income to Tzdakah.
Until that happens I don't care if he is King of the U.K. or Jerry Lewis , its irrelevant to us.
