Experts in Even Ha’ezer topics of the Shulchan Arucha have recently addressed a full day seminar for students of Online Smicha, the international institute for rabbinical ordination.
The learning was intended to enrich the knowledge and understanding in the laws of marriage, divorce and related issues through a series of lectures by rabbis.
It was sponsored by the Wilhelm families to mark the 10th yartzeit anniversary of their father, Reb Avraham Dovid ben Reb Moshe Aryeh OBM and was hosted by his son, Rabbi Zalman Wilhelm in Crown Heights.
Opening the day was another son, Rabbi Nachman Wilhelm of Minnesota, the founder and dean of Online Smicha. In attendance were 20 guests and an additional 10 students who joined via live video conference as most of their learning is conducted.
The program began with Rabbi Eliezer Zaklikovsky, a Shliach in New Jersey who authored the album Mekadesh Yisroel. He discussed interesting details of when the Rebbe served as Mesader Kiddushin.
Rabbi Berel Levine, Chief Curator of the Agudas Chassidei Chabad Library in Brooklyn and author of a sefer on the Nusach of the Shtaar Tenaim, spoke and answered questions about the Jewish prenuptial agreement.
Another guest speaker was Rabbi Moshe Bogomilsky, a halachic authority in Crown Heights and member of Vaad Rabbonei Lubavitch, who reviewed the identification of edim (kosher witnesses) at the chuppah.
While presented live, some of the classes are available to viewing to students of Online Smicha’s advanced STAIRS program. For more info, visit OnlineSmicha.com
