The end-of-year celebration at the Mesivta of Postville in Iowa last week was also the chanukas habayis inauguration of their new and specious dormitory.
Able to comfortably house 45 bochurim, the dorm is located on W. Green Street, which is a mere 5 minute walk from the Yeshiva building founded by Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin.
The Mesivta of Postville has moved into a brand new beautiful dormitory. The dormitory is very spacious and it is in excellent condition, it boasts two very comfortable lounge rooms, a nice kitchen, and a workout room.
It was donated by Canadian businessman Heshy Friedman, owner of the Agristar Meat & Poultry, the successor company to Rubashkin’s Agriprocessors.
The event also marked a milestone for the Yeshiva, as they have recently finished paying the mortgage on the dormitory.
Rooms were dedicated by Zalmy Korenblit and Dovid Ubiner, both alumni of the Yeshiva, and former resident Gidon Gratziani, as well as the family of the mohel and mashpia R’ Heschel Ceitlin OBM (Rabbi Avrohom and Esty Benshimon, Rabbi Eliyahu Benshimon and Levi Mishulovin).
“The bochurim now have a top of the notch dorm which is well built and maintained,” said Rabbi Eliyahu Benshimon, Director of the Mesivta. “They are comfortable there, and it reflects in their daily learning and behavior.”
Also staying there are the group of Talmidim-Shluchim, which adds a sense of family and friendship in the Yeshiva. But the feeling does not stop there. At the event, community members Aaron Goldshmith and Tzvika Bass told of the impact the Yeshiva has on them.
Speaking on behalf of hanhala were the Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Sholom Ber Gurkov and maggid shiur Rabbi Gavriel Levin, who wished the bochurim a successful summer, reminding them not to neglect their love of learning during vacation.
The shluchim Yoni Lefkowitz and Yisroel Gurkov said a few words, and Bochurim Moishe Caplan, Mendel Rozner, Mendel Engel, Shmuel Okunov and Mendel Schmukler spoke as well.
