Yeshiva Celebrates Tanya Printing

Lubavitcher Yeshiva of Crown Heights celebrated the printing of a Tanya and the finals of a Tanya Baal Peh program on Sunday.

This past Chof-Daled Teves, Lubavitcher Yeshiva of Crown Heights launched a historical project - the printing of a Tanya by Tomchei Temimim of Crown Street.

This special project was accompanied by a Tanya B’al Peh initiative to mark and honor the 200th anniversary of the yahrtzeit of the Alter Rebbe, Baal Hatanya. Children at every grade level stepped forward with a personalized commitment of how many lines in the sacred writing they would memorize, and carry with them for the rest of their lives.

In a world where children often times rely on incentives-- a prize of some sort - to propel them ahead in life, here, we find a case where there was no physical promise of reward from school to student based on the level of accomplishment. 100% of the students signed up simply because they felt a need to seize the opportunity which presented itself, the opportunity to learn the lines of Tanya which they could later recite as they walk through the streets of the world, purifying the air wherever they go.

On Sunday, Lubavitcher Yeshiva held a ceremony celebrating the culmination of the 6 month project of the historic Tanya printing by staff and students and the Tanya baal peh campaign.

Rabbi Yosef Simpson, the school's principal, greeted the boys with congratulatory words of encouragement, and went on to distribute the newly printed volumes to each student, with their names beautifully embossed in gold on the cover.

Rabbi Rivkin of the “Chabad Teens” program told a chassidishe story and went on to deliver the first lesson of Tanya that these students would learn with their newly printed volumes and the students sang the Alter Rebbe's nigun as hachana for receiving their tanyas.

A highlight of the event was the beautiful museum-style display of “Tanyas From Around The World.” To emphasize to the talmidim the fundamental importance of the sefer haTanya, students were encouraged to bring in Tanyas which have been printed in different locations around the globe which were labeled with the child’s name and set on display. Rabbi Kanelsky distributed certificates and $2 bills to participants of the Tanya baal peh campaign.

A special thank you to Mrs. Lizzie Rosenberg of the PTA, for helping with this enormous project in any way she could, for setting up the Tanya display, giving out the cupcakes and her commitment to the talmidim all year round.

Hats off to Rabbi Karrp
Rabbi Karp. Great work, Keep On giving the children the chaiyos they need now days to be real Chassidim of the Rebbe. Now when we are not zoche to go to farbrangens, we need MORE teachers like Rabbi Karp to bring a chaiyos, and Lebbedikait, to Rebbes Inyonim. Rabbi Karp dont give up. Keep up the good work; Keep making programs for the children. Keep the life the Rebbe would give us by Farbragens alive. Make sure the children feel a Chassidishe Yom Tov. Keep the Programs coming. It’s needed now more then ever.

What the article doesn't say
Is that without Rabbi Zalman Karp this project would not have happened. He worked on it tirelessly for 6 months. And the results were fantastic. Each Talmid got a beautiful bound Tanya of their own with their name embossed in gold. Your dedication is admirable. They Yeshiva is lucky to have you
