Mrs. Chana Friedman, longtime resident of Crown Heights and wife of R’ Bentzion Friedman, passed away on Tuesday, Sivan 12, 5773.
She was the daughter of Harav Hagaon R’ Yitzchok Dovid Sholom Mintzberg, Mashgiach Ruchni of Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin in Poland, who perished in the Holocaust, and Rebbetzin Shaina Gitel Mintzberg, who survived the war and emigrated to Crown Heights with her daughters.

Yes, she was one of my sons’ morahs from those glorious years at Mosdos day care center, but she was very much my “morah” as well–whatever she taught my boys, she taught me as well…….and, as an over-whelmed BT without the support of biological family, she became part of my Crown Hts family……….thank you for everything, Morah Chana, from me and the boys

She was such a special woman. She taught my brother years ago in mosdos day care and she was one of the most caring sensitive teachers ever. My family was quiete poor and my brother didn’t have clean nice clothing. One day she came to visit my mother and brother with a special present. There were two brand new beautiful outfits with matching socks in a nice gift box. She gave it to my brother with such love and nobody felt that she did it out of pity but rather outbid pure love and care. I was very little about… Read more »
